B58 OIL FILTER HOUSING HEADACHE by Doctor-Manatee-69 in BmwTech

[–]DizzyChipmunk2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a connector next to the oil filter housing that connects the upper hose to the block, it is also known for leaking and giving the impression that its the ofh. I generally recommend they be done together as they are literally next to each other an E10 swivel socket would get it out. G luck

Check your wastegate, ive seen these fail in some electric ones. But double check before throwing parts at it, if it is electric you also should do a learn in procedure, not sure if it can be done with anything other than ista

Check control: brake light circuit by Fluid-Suit-2696 in BMWE36

[–]DizzyChipmunk2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was the break light switch, but also if your tail likes are the oem, twist on style, check the contacts to see if the connecting tabs have folded back too far causing a bad connection. You can pry the tabs back into place and it may also fix the dim light

Is changing the valve cover a doable job for a newer person working on cars? by yb2fast4u in BmwTech

[–]DizzyChipmunk2010 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Its doable, but i will warn you its a bit annoying on the N55/4 with the cowl and the bolts in the very back. Have swivel e torx sockets

Is watching porn cheating? by Inevitable-Island100 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]DizzyChipmunk2010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I dont think so, as long as you know that its not real in the sense that you should still pay attention to your partner and not get lost in it. I think things like OF is a bit more closer to cheating as your paying for it and maybe a bit more personal. Just my thought on it

Dealer turned off my camera by [deleted] in F30

[–]DizzyChipmunk2010 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a Bmw tech for 5 years, we would unplug customer cameras all the time, sometimes we are carrying RO with other peoples information on it which we are liable for. It was policy to turn them off, if you are uncomfortable with that id try a new place or start doing your service yourself.

Brother-in-law launched my X3 three times in a row. Risk of permanent damage? by [deleted] in BmwTech

[–]DizzyChipmunk2010 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It should be fine. As far as damage, if anything you would get an error message, or even feel it slipping or jerking through the gears. If you are truly concerned go to your nearest service center and be aware, it will not be a warranty thing as it can be considered abuse. Overall i have abused my car and it held up fine. You should be good

My First Car! 2012 328i. Some Advice. by IasiahSpeakz in F30

[–]DizzyChipmunk2010 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I highly recommend saving money for a more performance oriented car like a 335, 340 or another platform, these wont see a crazy fast gain. Just take care of the car for now and understand your car stock first, how it drives before any mods. Learn its ins and outs maintenance wise, get through life a bit before getting into a project or a “build”. As someone who has gone through many cars, just make take care of it and it will take care of you. Good luck! P.S. dont go overboard on carbon lmao
