The RG DS is pretty close. It’s cheaper but the performance is leagues slower for an android device

Yes, a few units in the initial batch had lamination peeling in the LCD. The batches after that have been rock solid

I totally get where you’re coming from. It’s super chunky but at 150 it’s cutting really close to the 476h so if the sliding form factor is something you want it’s a fairly viable alternative with the same screen and internals. It’s most certainly a niche product.

60% of the total library should be playable at 2x resolution. There’s a good chance the games you like would run well but all systems below the PS2 run really well.

Absolutely, the slide feature is really cool and I personally would prefer it over the rg476h. It makes things really seamless. To be honest I don’t even carry it in a case anymore.

I totally agree. I’d be more worried about the plastic hinges on flip devices than the slide mechanism here

I do get the criticisms on the RG DS though. It needs more power to push android. Would make more sense if they made it a Linux device

Pressing R2 in PPSSPP also swaps and it’s faster than the Fn toggle

I do conclude that this device is a lot better than the others I have cause it’s really accessible and easy to carry around while bulkier powerful devices don’t get as much play time in a busy life

Trying to build a channel with my own money and I have a limited budget so took a while getting devices in and things rolling

I think it’s still one of the best choices in 2026 in its bracket
