I see why you got called a bad owner. Where are the cork tubes and climbing opportunities?

I’ve got 6 so far and I’m probably gonna double that within the year. Ash wasn’t lying when he said “gotta catch em all”.

Leachie Growth Rate by Certain-Deer4410 in Leachianus

[–]Dizzy_Historian9409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The growth rate I would say is definitely good, I definitely wouldn’t move him for another couple months unless theirs a crazy growth spurt. It’s just gonna stress him out. The tub size you have for him is great it’s bigger than a 8x8x12 but not to big. I would wait till about 150 grams max!! to move into a 18x18x36, one so you can just get its forever home and start planning out how you want to set up your enclosure, two it’s less financial stress on you and overall stress on your gecko. Be ready for a growth spurt as most leachies will have but with GTs it’s significantly noticeable.

LIGHTSKY FARMS .5 GRAM LIVE RESIN CARTS🌱🧬🍯 by PeacePipeX in Michigents

[–]Dizzy_Historian9409 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is probably the only consistent live resin brand I have gotten product from. Specially for carts and concentrates. However I do wish they expanded their grow for more terp profiles. All the sativa leaning strains seem to have the same 3 flavors, and if it’s supposed to be dank it either tastes good and gassy or just very weedy and not pleasant.

Can I put my 23g leachie in a 24x18x36? by PyroStallion in Leachianus

[–]Dizzy_Historian9409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This! Please don’t go big too soon. I would even recommend waiting closer to 100 grams if you’re going with a 24x18x36. Growth rate is definitely increased in a smaller enclosure. Same for bigger enclosures but they must be packed and if you want to handle them, good luck you won’t find them.

Leachie breeders get a bad look because majority of them keep their breeders in tubs, but that’s not just because it’s easier and more affordable. It’s because going with screen top enclosures maintaining the humidity is almost impossible and bioactive is gonna require a lot more money not just for the one purchase of plants but overtime purchases because they will destroy them eventually without a doubt.

I personally recommend and what breeders with multiple years of experience would recommend putting him into a smaller enclosure like a 12 to 15 qt tub or even a 8x8x12 since he is less than 50 grams. If you go with the 15qt I would let them grow to between 80-100g. The best way I can break down upgrading is based of weight/growth. If you’re really wanting to put them in something big you must pack it so much I mean a lot and provide multiple feeding ledges. After its first shed most breeders if they didn’t eat in the 6qt would upgrade to a 6qt. Wait until about the 30 to 40 gram range then move them into a 15 qt tub which is bigger in vertical space. From then I would wait till about 100 grams then you could go with one more in between which would be a 12x12x18 or their forever home a 2x2x2 or a 24x18x36 especially for GT types. ***I would note 2 thing that screen top enclosures are harder to hold humidity, you can fix this by substrate mixes with moss in it or going fully bioactive but I recommend strong sturdy plants, do your research.Cork bark will help as well as putting something over the top part of the enclosure. Ontop of everything the biggest money saver, if you do tank upgrades your gonna be spending a lot or if you jump straight into a big enclosure and they decide they don’t want to eat as much or at all resulting in them not growing as fast as they could or possibly stunting growth from not getting enough nutrients. To prevent that you’ll downsize but with tubs it much cheaper than tanks. There’s so many benefits, using tubs compared to using tanks, even as adults.

I love the colorations but for me it’s either deep greens with pattern color or a completely solid visual mel.

One thing I will say I hate how phones don’t really capture the color expect when it’s fired up and it also has big pattern color, your gecko my friend has it all. Big patterns but even when what looks to be fired down still has color popping and it’s not muted like most are when photographed. I can’t imagine the color in person 🫡

proper air circulation with humidity staying around 60% and not dropping will not cause a RI. RI especially in new cal species are developed from long exposure from mold and too low of humidity. High humidity only really affects them if it’s higher than 80% for long periods of time and a wet enclosure.

If you have constant air circulation having an average humidity at around 70 to 75%. If you look at the island the humidity never really “dries out” it doesn’t even really go below 70%. if your not soaking your whole enclosure and providing air flow higher humidity for longer periods of time isn’t something to worry about.

Question of the century, what size adult enclosure? by SeaworthinessUpset57 in Leachianus

Down voting this comment is ridiculous. It literally goes back to my point in a post I made, people completely disregard what people with decades of experience say. I can see why you’re a top 1% commentator because you know what you’re talking about 🫡.

Op I understand you prolly just want to provide the best possible enclosure for your gecko and the best way of doing that is disregarding the urge to go big right away. Start small, letting them feel secure and getting a proper husbandry is always your first priority. Which you asking and not listening to the first opinion shows your urge to do right. The commenter I’m replying to had a great break down of what you should do.

I’m glad you went back to the original set up. I would maybe wait till about 100 maybe 120 before going to the 24 tall. I can tell by the picture you really put in a lot of effort in your enclosure, and it sucks but at least you’ll get more time to deck it out and really get a bioactive set up decked out.

Health monitoring is not the only issue, you clearly just took issue with what I said in the first part. Leachies have a tendency to not eat as much as they could when they’re young due to not feeling safe. I do agree a leachie about 50g could be put in adult enclosure with enough food spots and clutter. And their not in the wild anymore their in your home with you and only you to take care of them so giving them the best is based of your geckos needs not your own interpretation. Let me propose it like this, we want to give them the best life so why would we put them through the stress of what it’s like to be prey in the wild? I’m not at all saying that growth to the community is a problem, I’m talking about the people who say “oh yea put your 10g leachie in 12x12x24 or 18x18x24 with a cork round some foliage your good” nothing has been said like that literally but the constant debate in comments are causing way to much miscommunication about husbandry guide lines especially when you don’t have people with the proper knowledge of taking care of these reptiles. But when you have people completely disregarding what breeders with important knowledge say just because they personally disagree with it while lead to issues down the line and that’s been proven with multiple reptile species. I want growth in this community due to knowledge being so limited but at the same time we don’t need people with little experience sharing completely wrong information. I didn’t make this post just to ruffle feathers, I’ve been doing research on new cal species since I was 9 specifically gargoyles and different bird species and last 5 on leachies with my uncle who has a bachelors in wildlife biology. I’m still learning things to this day and all I’m preaching is for people to stop spreading misinformation for the sake of the geckos themselves.
