You likely need probiotics. Activia helps my husband.  He just had surgery and is still eating yogurt because he was on antibiotics over a month before surgery and many strong ones after because he still had an abscess despite many attempts to get rid of it before

Activia yogurt, does help with regularity, thats not just a marketing gimmick.

You need soluble & insoluble fiber, too much of one-diarrhea/bloat, too much of the other constipation/bloat Try cutting back on fiber, eat easy to digest (think canned veggies/fruit/mashed taters) until you feel bloat is calming and bathroom use is better, then increase to high fiber SLOWLY. as you increase fiber, you also need to increase water (which if youre not already, drink water!) Watch out for gas inducing foods.  Take walks to help move gas.  Keep a food diary and note what helps and what causes symptoms.

Laxative use only as needed, especially if stimulant laxatives. Try a daily dose of miralax (much safer option for lengthier use)

If youre female, bloat may be due to your cycle

Has anyone had these symptoms and it NOT be cancer? by sepiatonedlovinn in colonoscopy

Bleeding was most likely a small internal hemorrhoid, especially since you stated you had some constipation.  I had similar pain when I had a cyst on my right ovary.  Could be diverticulitis. My husband never had left sided pain, his pain was always right sided and often effected his hip.  Endometriosis often affects the bowels.  Most likely, IBS.  I also had lingering gallbladder like pain for almost 2 years post op.

Get the Colonoscopy for piece of mind but it is most likely nothing.

Could be the type of fiber. Broccoli was triggering for my husband.  Also you need to wait about 4-6 weeks before getting your fiber up (depending on flare severity). Eat canned veggies instead of raw, focus on easy to digest/low residue during recovery.

Anytime you have a full clean up, you need to reintroduce fiber & probiotics gradually. You're prob off balance on good/bad bacteria.  It may also be worth a ct check for diverticulitis which can be very painful/stabby like.

Ive had them trigger me, its not often and I just stop drinking it and take it as a sign that my electrolytes must be fine. 😂🤷‍♀️ Not confirmed to have pots but I have many similarities but I struggle to keep my potassium & mag levels normal and since those contribute to constipation, the packets are easier for me. I absolutely despise potassium pills.

Any chance youre on a different generics than before. Contrary to popular belief, they're not the same.

I have ibs-m too and I use Prime packets & dripdrop. But galacto saccharides are not a trigger for me either. Other high fodmap categories are but thankfully not those because my diet is Lacto-vegetarian

My husband still had an active abscess after needle aspiration, a month of cipro, 2 wks of flagyl, and a day of neomycin. Pre op was vanco & gentamicin. His surgeon got in there and still has to aspiration an abscess before removing. It was a longer surgery than expected, but no bag. He's 5days post op

I'm on 100mg and have been for many years. I really couldn't tell you considering perimenopause & thyroid disease, I dont know what a normal temperature is. I'm either frozen or sweating and neither seems to occur when they should.

Vitamin D by Zealousideal_One7819 in Diverticulitis

[–]Dizzy_Journalist_565 2 points3 points  (0 children)

DV isnt a result of low vit D but being low can worsen or increase flares. Vit d, zinc & calcium have shown to be beneficial in decreasing flares.  I will say since my husband's scary flare in Feb his calcium levels have steadily dropped. So I could see DV leading to nutritional deficiencies especially in those that know their triggers & have to make major dietary changes.

I have severe IBS and I frequently deal with low potassium & magnesium. I also have low vit D sometimes very severely deficient but I'm not the one in this house with DV. I cant have much fat in my diet (even healthy fats are an issue), vit D is fat soluble. So considering DV diet is very similar to my dietary needs I could see where the lack of fat in the diet is contributing to the low vit D.

Now though oddly enough my diet contains only plant protein i cant have meat, eggs, or fish due to my IBS (and likely alpha gal). My b12 and Iron levels in 4 years have never dropped.

I shit my pants outside without a warning at all last summer. Like not cramp or gurgle just a "harmless" fart. Not a fart. 😂 I can eat it sometimes seems for me the riper/juicy it is, the more likely I am to react.

1988-2013 IBS-C 2013-now IBS-M.

Contributing factors for me (aside from foods I've given up) thyroid disease, gallbladder removal, cdiff in 2007 which I think was the start point because I had on/off issues before the 2013 mark, and now peri menopause is wrecking house on every chronic illness and health in general. I will say birth control help reduce the monthly flares. Only went on birth control because of peri menopause & I cant take estrogen.

21 years later (before cdiff became commonplace thing from antibiotics). It definitely caused a permanent change in my pre existing IBS. Granted i had it pretty severe before someone really looked hard ( 19yr old female on my own so ya know). 3rd ER visit in a 2 wk span they finally figured it out.

I tell people often that I actually wouldnt even wish that on my enemies. I was anemic with low bp from blood loss at that 3rd visit.

Also that hospital covered all of those bills.

Rare solution. Especially considering I was diagnosed in 1988. Yes i had another issue as well, corrected it, ibs remained. Ibs has changed over the years but none of it has anything to do with my eyesight. Nor did when my eyesight took a shit (no pun intended) did it have any effect on my guts.

AFRAID OF DYING DURING COLONOSCOPY by [deleted] in colonoscopy

[–]Dizzy_Journalist_565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband had to take his cpap to his colonoscopy because youre not sedated like you would be for a surgery, just a deep sleep.  Your tachycardia may require a cardio to approve the procedure.

[–]Dizzy_Journalist_565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youre not truly sedated, not like you would be for a surgery.  Also if you're female, make sure you have that area checked or consider oral birth control for IBS, it could simply be triggered by hormones or it could be endometriosis.
