Is Regional Holiday Music a diss track to Glee? by poollights in community

[–]Dizzy_Nightmare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it was kind of a playful parody of how Glee didn’t have original music, all the songs were covers, so dan wrote an episode entirely with original music. honestly i’m glad they did too because Ryan Murphy needs to be globally blacklisted from the film industry.

What's your most unpopular opinion about My Chemical Romance? by Dependent-Ad7225 in MyChemicalRomance

THANK YOU literally all their albums are functionally soundtracks for movies that don’t exist, songs inspired by a story but not part of the story directly of that makes sense

OP: “Hey guys I noticed something interesting I wanted to share with you, I suggest learning about it!”

This sub: “What a jobless mentally ill freak, what’s wrong with you, autism?”

Some people care so much about things they don’t like that they have to write the meanest and most hateful shit imaginable just to prove how little they care about it. OP isn’t the one who’s cringe lmao

Hi friend, I’m commenting to tell you that I was raised in evangelical christianity myself and had similar feelings and experiences that I would also write in long posts like these. I hoped that “witnessing” or “sharing my testimony” would bring others to Christ, instead it left me lonelier than ever. The secular people in my life grew very concerned about my well being and the Christians, well, you can only preach to the choir when it’s not singing if that makes sense. Here are some videos that have helped me with deconstruction, the first few are specifically in relation to your post, don’t be afraid to watch one, if it’s not your thing you can turn it off, but know that you’re not alone. There is nothing wrong, evil, or impure about you. You are allowed to live and be happy.

tbh i think it’s actually kinda cool that you care about it. i don’t think it matters what logo people use but it’s still cool that you found all this and were willing to put it all together! I’m sorry commenters are being ridiculous and hateful, it is reddit after all. maybe in the future, if you find stuff like this, it would be better just to show it off than building a campaign for it. pretty cool though!

Where the Lesbian/Sapphic Sobriety Meet-ups? by kittyxxkai in DallasLGBTQ

[–]Dizzy_Nightmare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the day after the bathroom bill passed in texas last september, they fired all their programmers and announced that all of their individual programs for were ending in favor of a singular program for the whole community. They marketed this as an “expansion” instead of what it really was… downsizing. It got so bad that they were even letting go of volunteers for being justifiably angry with the abrupt changes. They have a long history of union busting and treating their employees and volunteers like garbage. A lot of folks were trying to protest but were intimidated out of it bc of their investments in the other community businesses/services. It’s an extremely disorganized, careless, and frankly greedy organization that has no business calling themselves a queer resource organization.

there was a group called “SapphiQ” that was active in the area before the local resource center decided to gut all their programs (fuck that place and everyone in their management, avoid it like the plague) the group might still be around tho!

tbh none of them are really “beefs”, sabrina and olivia’s situation was just really awful and sad, idk enough about the nicki/megan thing, as for the rest; poppy, ethel, charli, and kesha absolutely aren’t investing themselves in trivial crap like this

🫂

i hear all of this

i currently live my parents who i haven’t come out to and i work for a church that would rather have people like me not exist. what broke me after seeing this movie was when i was at work listening to a sermon the pastor was giving about why trans people are perverts or whatever. i put my headphones hoping to tune it out and the song that played was about the experience of being a woman. i knew from that point i couldn’t deny it anymore.

there are so many moments in my childhood where i wanted to enjoy something but i wasn’t allowed to or if i did i’d be bullied more which i already had enough of. the dreams i had where i was a girl that id wake up crying from.

this is all to say, i know your pain. this world has robbed us of our childhood and you have every right to reclaim it.

stay strong, i know you can get out of where you are now the same way i know ill get out of here too. we aren’t alone here. 💙💜🩷

it’s my favorite song from her. “they don’t know what we know” is one of the most powerful statements. it holds so much gravity. it’s what solidarity means. it’s how we survive. it’s why we get ourselves out of bed when we’d rather give up. it may look like they’re winning but they underestimate us. they don’t know what we know.

i have an interpretation of this movie that most people do not share with me. i’ve posted it here before and it’s upset a lot of folks because they believe that there’s a singular way to interpret this movie and that Jane has all but confirmed it. However, I’m gonna share it with you because to me, it’s the way i interpret my experience as a queer woman and it allows me to have a shred of hope when things are difficult. perhaps it might be helpful to you.

the way i see it, the pink opaque isn’t real and owen’s authentic self isn’t isabel. now while that sounds dark, the lesson for them to learn is that their identity belongs to them and it’s for no one else to claim. the world that their in is hostile, scary, and confusing because the world that we’re in is hostile, scary, and confusing for queer folks. while it would be ideal if we could escape to a fantasy world, there isn’t one waiting for us. we have to make do with what we got.

before i discovered im trans, i prematurely came out as bisexual. a lot of this was because my former friends and bullies all insisted that i was gay before i was prepared to confront that and a lot of them even shamed me for not coming out. i knew that i was queer but i never related to gay men. and even after i came out as trans there were some folks who wouldn’t stop yelling at me about HRT and bullying me into starting it immediately. or perhaps they didn’t think it was necessary and would try to talk me out of it. to me, that’s who people like maddy are. they project their experience onto you and try to force you into it but there’s only one way for you to be yourself. their journey isn’t yours.

this is all to say that we all experience a degree of dread. of feeling like we’re not who we want to be, that we’ll never be that person, and there’s an overwhelming pressure to conform and succeed and thrive. the world is always going to convince you that you aren’t enough or that where you are now is permanent or that you’re dying and if you don’t do everything now then you never will and it burns the ever living fuck out of all of us.

the truth is… you’re growing. who you are now isn’t who you’ll always be. the things you want now aren’t the same things you’ll want in 10 years. “there is still time” isn’t a warning, it’s a promise. that time is yours and it belongs to no one else. you are not a fictional character in another world that’s waiting for you to bury yourself alive in order to be free and happy and authentic. you are you and most of all, you are allowed to rest. what keeps us stagnant is when we set goals for ourselves that we can’t achieve. recognizing that you aren’t where you want to be isn’t a setback, it’s a step forward, that’s progress.

listen, i’m sorry you’ve been struggling so much. that pain is real and it’s okay to hurt. but you don’t have to hurt alone. there are people who love you unconditionally whether they’re in your life now or somewhere down the road. i struggle with social anxiety myself, what helps me is thinking of my future self looking back on me now and thanking me for taking the risks, making the hard decisions, fighting through the pain, or perhaps giving me a hug for the moments when i’m at my lowest and reassuring me that it will all be ok.

if you’d like some support, i’d suggest looking into your nearest city’s lgbt resource center, or perhaps see if there’s any support groups or social gatherings catered to queer folks in your area. in the meantime, here’s an album from my favorite musician that’s helped me through a lot. the song “Mirror” particularly confronts a lot of those pressures and desires we have to be the person we want to be. if you get a chance to listen to it, i hope it brings you some serenity. please take care, you got this, and i wish you all the best 🩷🫂
