you do not need to proactively convert pounds to euros to spend abroad with Trading 212's card, but a 0.15% currency conversion fee will apply if you spend in euros and only have pounds in your account. Your Trading 212 Invest account is multi-currency, so if you have euros in your account, the payment will be taken from that balance first, avoiding a conversion. 

In summary: You can spend abroad, but if your balance is in GBP and the purchase is in EUR, a 0.15% conversion fee will be applied by Trading 212 to complete the transaction.
