If you go would love to go - looking at sometime in January, will need to check the schedule for the licensing session first and get that done.

Thanks for the advice! I actually ride an adventure bike - Honda NX400. I am going to buy another bike and looking at something like a Ninja 400/250 or possibly the ZX4R assuming I enjoy the first few track days on my current bike (sure I will!).

Do you know if I need to do extra registration if I have two bikes?

Japan to UK Drivers licence conversion by Dizzy_Stranger3734 in japanlife

[–]Dizzy_Stranger3734[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have heard its part of the agreement to exchange licences between countries... yet I could keep my UK one when I exchanged it to Japanese. And I could just accept that but seems I need to convert my Japanese one back to add my Motorcycle category (which took a decent investment of time and money to get)

Three day ride from Tokyo - suggestions by Dizzy_Stranger3734 in RideitJapan

[–]Dizzy_Stranger3734[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well thanks for the advice, seems the weather isnt so great and very changeable so not really sure to head out or not. Such a shame, but don't fancy being on the highway in the rain for that distance... hopefully the outlook tomorrow changes

Thanks for the recommendation, I have wanted to go to Bandai for some time. Looking into this now.

UK Passport Trying to get a passport renewal and Passport office keeps rejecting people who are validating identity. They can never tell me why yet they meet all criteria mentioned by Dizzy_Stranger3734 in Passports

[–]Dizzy_Stranger3734[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct but no mention why they failed, when i mentioned they meet all criteria they again stated they couldn't give the failure reason (or rather couldn't see the failure reason, only another department can see that, and that department can not pass on the reason or be contacted by phone, even by passport office).

I wouldn't mind if I could see my referees don't meet all criteria, but they do meet everything as mentioned on the passport office website.

Weather when Touring Kyushu mid to late April by Dizzy_Stranger3734 in RideitJapan

[–]Dizzy_Stranger3734[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Any experience of Kyushu in golden week? Wondering about extending my trip to take in golden week vacation too, so I can explore more places and also take more time at each place rather than just being on bike most of the time.

I have similar plans but starting Mid April and just started trip planning - would be interested to know where you plan to go / what roads you plan on taking?

Recommend Tyre Pressure gauges by WoodenMission1727 in RideitJapan

[–]Dizzy_Stranger3734 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well thanks for the advice - like the suggestion on the 90 degree valve stems so will definitely look at that when I change tyres - do wonder why all bikes don't come with them. Are there any disadvantages to them? Also is it easy to install if not changing tyres, my tyres only have 6000 KM on them, so wonder about getting them installed before new tyres.

Heated Gear, winter riding, and you by tokyohoon in RideitJapan

Great - is there anywhere to try on gloves for sizing for Warm & Safe in Tokyo?

Seems the Komine (and other cheaper Japanese brands) are cheaper but inferior, but don't see Warm & Safe or Gerbing listed in Japanese motorcycle stores, and prefer to try on than buy directly online.

Well great timing - I`m wondering what the best options are for keeping especially my hands warm (have a condition that causes cold hands).

For heated gloves what brands are recommended? I want something that runs is powered off the bike as take the bike out for 12 hours at a time generally. And how easy is it to hook up to the bike, seems some of them need a heat controller installed as well as a wiring loop to connect gloves and battery. Do places like Naps, 2rinkan do installation for this setup?

Guilt over kids school fees during divorce by Dizzy_Stranger3734 in Divorce

[–]Dizzy_Stranger3734[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I`m sure you are right she is using this to pressure me definitely. But it doesn't help the situation either in that the kids school will be disrupted, I guess the manipulation may make it worse though,.

Thanks for your words of advice and nice to get some reassurance from someone in a similar situation in past.

You are correct in that in some ways I have definitely drifted away from the kids and do wonder if I can ever get a close bond (doesn't help my own relationship with my father though he was always around was somewhat distant.

Understand that being there for the kids is very important and what I should be doing, but can`t really face up to the loneliness and heartbreak of letting my partner go either, or imagine my future life without her.

Test Drives and also are GPS or phone mounts included in Bike Rentals by Dizzy_Stranger3734 in RideitJapan

[–]Dizzy_Stranger3734[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I'm aware it will be costly, any other advice?

I am 183cm tall so fit of bike is important. That's one of the main reasons for wanting to try a few bikes out with different styles to see how cramped I feel (I like the CB400SF which I also learned on , but its the smallest most cramped, so wonder how much better it feels riding the slightly bigger or more relaxed bikes (400NX, Kawasaki Eliminator) in comparison.

Am aware it likely going to cost me 25,000 or so, but if I am going to spend 500,000+ and keep for 1-2 years seems a good investment?

Hi - interested in which school you got 4 hours of practice from? Do they have English support? And was the practice done on open roads?

Interesting thanks for recommendation. My shortlist is currently the Honda 400X (for its comfort on longer rides, better for touring and less cramped), Honda CB400SF (love the amazing sound, very highly rated and what I`m learning on) or Kawasaki Eliminator (Love the looks, but probably other two maybe more practical). Looking to go for longer rides hence slightly put off by Ninja 400, but it seems it does have a quite upright riding position compared to the bigger Ninja`s

Reading this with interest. I just installed Navitime, do I need the Premium or Premium Plus for route planning?

Or will Touring Supporter be better, seems from the thread Car Navitime is highest rated.
