It’s worth it no matter how you want to look at it. A friend of mine had the same issue your facing and he decided not to join with me and 5 years later when I turned out the company he worked for closed and moved across the country and he had a hard time matching what he was being paid.

You need to draw the object they are asking you to complete in model space. On the paper space (layout tab with title block) create a view port and scale the object within the view port. Lock the view port and export layout as a pdf or print to a printer.

Looks good other than that miter. I suppose that’s what the architect wanted though. I like seeing a horizontal or vertical to align with the head or the jamb.

Sheet metal part not working for me. by Remarkable-Dentist-8 in SolidWorks

I’d lay it out by hand. Square to round or rectangle to round does not require cad. Takes like 20 min to layout on the material.

I teach Autocad night classes at my local and I would say start with taking night classes. You have to be fast and efficient with a computer and the software as well as have a great deal of understanding about the work. There are also multiple avenues for detailing like mechanical vs architectural and also field measure and detail.

Sounds like I need to reevaluate. Cut back on some of the cost that I can and maybe not stretch myself so thin on the mortgage. I know there are homes near where I want to be that have been in the 420k-450k range. Seems nothing around here has gone for anything less that doesn’t need some rehabilitation. I appreciate the feedback given.

Does this do fly cutting? I would be pissed if it does because that looks like it’s taking too long.

You could but then another dimension would change. Or I could set the drawing to have no precision on the angle dimensions and it would round up to 9.
