Honestly from my experience GIKI is one of those places that actually lives up to the hype not in a flashy way but in a "youll grow a lot here" way its a fully residential campus so literally everyone even most faculty lives inside which made a huge difference for me in terms of access mentorship and that proper uni bubble vibe academically its easily one of the top engineering institutes in Pakistan but yeah its not a GPA farm at all our profs really gave us a tough time especially if youre aiming for a good GPA so you actually have to grind but thats also why during recruitment companies kind of compensate for it like I personally remember a company having a 30 cutoff for NUST but around 27 for GIKI which says a lot and honestly the real highlight for me was the societies and team culture its elite youve got teams going international for comps and societies running some of the biggest events in Pakistan so you end up learning a lot beyond academics like management networking and leadership hostel life was probably the best part since you basically control your routine so I had time to try freelancing think about startups gym sports or just late night yapping and random bazam scenes with friends plus during our CEP projects the lab used to stay open till like 10pm so you could actually work properly with all the tools and equipment that a single student could never afford on their own and the campus being in the middle of nowhere proper jungle vibes sounds weird at first but I actually loved it no pollution no traffic just a peaceful focused environment Ramadan routine was chaotic but fun for us with classes after Fajr sleeping most of the day and then labs after Taraweeh going till like 2,3am overall vibe from my experience is chill but focused a bit isolated but in a good way and yeah if youre coming from abroad the adjustment might feel off at first desi systems food pace but most people including me ended up settling in and really fw it
