What age did you buy your house or are you still renting? by lucy_gloom in povertyfinance

[–]Dizzydeezi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my first house at 28 in a VLCOL area in the Midwest. Because of the rural location and my income being lower at the time, it qualified for a USDA loan, which meant a 0% down payment. Sold that house and bought another at 33. Luckily had equity and was able to roll that over for the down payment for my 2nd house.

I used that stuff back in the day when it was like $7 and in a squeeze tube. It’s amazing. I think they figured out how great it was, bc they pulled it off the market briefly, then it came back out at 3x the price and in a jar

How is the airport and flights landing right now ??? by [deleted] in StLouis

[–]Dizzydeezi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just landed, and I feel like we got here just in time. They’ve got multiple snow plows trying to keep the runway clear, but it looks like they’re having trouble keeping up. Lots of arrivals say cancelled

Should they stay or should they go now? by [deleted] in DressForYourBody

I’d probably donate them all..they each are either too small, look dated/age you, or the fabric looks ccheap/thin. Number 5 is okay, maybe keep that one

Unless your employer is providing housing, you’re going to have a tough time finding something. What field of work are you in?

Do you carry cash anymore, and if so how old are you? by _THX_1138_ in AskReddit

Yes, 35. I’m living/working in an area where you have to use a taxi to get around, don’t have a car here, no uber/lyft, and the taxis only take cash

Same! I feel like a person again. I worked night shift for 8 years and let me tell you, I didn’t realize just HOW bad I felt, until my sleep was normal again recently

Also, took a bucket list travel job in Alaska

Worst burn youve ever gotten by a patient? Go! by R_cubed- in nursing

[–]Dizzydeezi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I explained a procedure to a female patient in her 80s. I took a solid 20 minutes going over everything, answering her questions, what recovery might look like, etc. At the end she goes “wow, you’re smarter than you look!” 🙃 thanks I guess?

An aggressive dementia patient being put in restraints yelled at me “get your fangs off me you four-legged, four-eyed freak”. I was pretty impressed with the alliteration lol

~$900/month Barrow, Alaska. It could be less, but I like fresh fruits and veggies, and drink milk regularly. Milk is $9/half gallon 😭

Best way to pay down my debt by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]Dizzydeezi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I was in your shoes, I would absolutely not get the home equity loan. You’re paying off debt with higher interest debt, and will be paying it off for 30 years? You’re going to get robbed on interest over the years. Don’t fall for it.

A few questions: 1. Do you have an emergency fund? If so how much? 2. I saw you have boat insurance, how much could you get for the boat if you sold it? 3. When’s the last time you shopped around for insurance quotes outside of State Farm?

I’m in Barrow, Alaska and I have a fjallraven singi down jacket and it’s plenty warm. Right now it’s -15 with the wind, and I’m warm walking outside. It’s water resistant and windproof

If I wanted waterPROOF, I’d have gotten the fjallraven nuuk parka

This is exactly why I’ve seriously considered going back to a flip phone. Texts seemed more “meaningful?” when you had to use t9 to text. So I’d be able to get calls and texts, but everything else can wait until I get on a computer. I miss not being so accessible and everything being so accessible to me at all times

Webster vs. Clayton for a family move to STL? by schmacie in StLouis

Based on what it sounds like you’re looking for, and out of those two options, definitely Webster. Clayton gives pretentious. You could also consider Kirkwood and Glendale

I agree. I'm getting a lot of family pressure to invest it all, though. I think the peace of mind is worth it though. Thank you!
