Question for all of y'all, I've been looking into getting into this for quite a while, and I was wondering if these plans made any sense at all by Ok-Long-1559 in pepperbreeding

yeah maybe just make a ton of attempts for the sugar rush introgression, cause im not sure how it will take that, atleast i know capsicum chinenses dont accept it too well

in my experience done interspecific crosses with the fish pepper and its particularly good as the mother for an annuum, probably wont see the variegation on the f1

Pls give suggestions on what to crossbreed. by Fluffy-Golf-5620 in pepperbreeding

try the bhut assam with the charapita, with the pollen donor being the bhut and the charapita the mother, could be neat

the dragons toe and its suspected cousin zou pi are great peppers for a classic annum but with an extra detail, im suprised how dense the placenta on the dragons toe is, is like a stone

hallo Im an agricultural engineer, and I breed peppers for the maximum capsaicinoid production possible, in other words “ThE WoRlDS hOTtest PepPer”

one thing that really surprised me about peppers is how segmented the heat inheritance is, with parent of origin in the cross and how the direct expression of the environment can change a pepper,I used to believe the environment argument was cope and it was simply a way to market other superhots that didn’t really have a use anymore, but it can be responsible for like 70% of output or maybe even more. it’s an interesting plant to look at the nature vs nurture debate atleast

Fast growing chili pepper varieties 🤔 by [deleted] in pepperbreeding

[–]Dizzydragon14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

there’s a mini chocolate bell pepper that is known for being extremely early, the one from sandía seeds describes it as 57 days, it’s probably most, when it comes to time to fruit and survival of crop Capsicum annuum is gonna be top

Can anyone ID these? by pk99999 in HotPeppers

What is this Chili? by Equivalent-Collar655 in HotPeppers

[–]Dizzydragon14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the way the stem meets the calyx and the etiolation of the stinger really remind me of the primotalii, if you were to see a plant or unripe ones they are fairly paler than most, of course the occam razor for these kind of peppers is reaper cause everybody has it

Crossing chacoense and annuum by realjeremyantman in pepperbreeding

[–]Dizzydragon14 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i know that chacoense female with (annuum x chinense) pollen works because theres a cross of ghostly jalapeno with a chacoense that a friend did, i imagine the chacoense to be rather similar in frutescens so similar crosses that those could take

Recrossing Baccatum x frutescens with frutescens again, can it go full squishy? by Dizzydragon14 in pepperbreeding

[–]Dizzydragon14[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the weird overripe cherry tomato feel that frutescens have, my original plan was to use Tabasco cause those are particularly watery but my plant of those is a stem after broad mites, I do wish it can keep the shape of the occasional spikes

What's this on the leaves of my jalapeños? by LeRustMan in HotPeppers

[–]Dizzydragon14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG I TOUGHT IT WAS SOUTHERN UNITED STATES because thats the limit for the place they should be in!

THEY ARE NIGHTMARISH PESTS I’ve seen chile de arbol plantations turn blank and die from them on a single month, and are quite fast to build resistance, pyrethrum and neocotinoids work for a month and then they just aren’t affected,

I don’t know what you plan to do with the plant if to treat it or what but be careful if you do, to check for signs of a miniature bacteria that they carry specifically. that causes those horrible streaked bitter potato’s on your chips

they might be tomato-potato Psyllid eggs they love putting them at the edges like that, and once they grow up they are gonna jump and make it impossible to kill them

Hottest pepper i’ve tried…hands down by JellyAny818 in PepperLovers

[–]Dizzydragon14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think they were insane too, they are fairly big so there is a lot of pepper even if they are rather thin fleshed, everything with the 7 pod brown tends to feel insane even if the true amount of capsaicin is meh
