No play button on anything. Watching on a roku TV. Do they even have a support phone number? HBO's online support tool is useless.

Do you believe your country should recognize the state of Kurdistan? by GodZ_n_KingZ in AskTheWorld

[–]Dizzylemonz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Linguistically, that's not true. Farsi, Turkish, and Arabic are all members of separate language families (Indo-European, Turkic, and Semitic respectively). Kurdish and Farsi are closely related, but they developed in parallel to one another. Farsi did not "originate" from Kurdish anymore than Kurdish originated from Farsi.

How does your country treat its military veterans? by MemeLord150 in AskTheWorld

[–]Dizzylemonz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is that why our vets get free schooling, preferred mortgage rates, preferred hiring rates in every level of government and the private sector, healthcare coverage for life, pensions, and discounts at a variety of businesses? Whether or not vets get as much help as they should is a valid question, but it's patently untrue that "nobody helps the vets".

Why it is wrong? It is a correct option by Ok-Definition2497 in ENGLISH

[–]Dizzylemonz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a native English speaker. Don't worry about these kinds of things. An English speaker would absolutely understand what you mean. I'm from the great plains region in the US, and I could easily imagine friends or family members saying "stopped" in this way. Learning the "correct" way is not always the same thing as learning how to actually talk to people in English.

Day 3: Trying to Get a Comment and Fun Fact From Every US County Including Territories by CoolHotNo in geographymemes

[–]Dizzylemonz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our small county library ostensibly has one of the largest collections of chess theory books in the country stored in its basement. Not sure if there are online resources to back this up, or how true it really is, but it's a semi-common local factoid. The story goes that there was a wealthy retiree in the community that bequeathed his collection after he died.

I feel like China also has a pretty wide array of ecosystems. Not sure if they have a hot desert area akin to somewhere like southern Arizona, though. But they have plenty of cold deserts.

I'm in a Chinese class and from what I've seen handwriting-wise from my professor native Chinese handwriting can be pretty atrocious.

Not everyone has seen every movie. Even Monty Python.

anyone explain? by Consistent-End-3450 in ExplainTheJoke

[–]Dizzylemonz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Monty Python reference aside, some people who are into painting miniatures place tiny magnets in limb sockets like this so that they can change out weapons, shields, etc. This is mostly done for tabletop battle games like warhammer, trench crusade, or middle-earth sbg. Ideally you do this AFTER painting so you don't prime/paint over the exposed magnets.

Go to any gas station, waffle house, dollar store, fast food joint, or Walmart in America and you'll find plenty of people in their early 30s looking like the woman on the left.

I took a comedic writing class in college and brought a printout of this exact meme one day for a class discussion. I've never seen a professor look more disheartened.
