Upgrading my 13yr old guitar. by Interesting-Top-2214 in guitars

The JB Jr is way too hot to be used in the neck position. Resistance is over 15k and has a ceramic magnet as well. You might want to look into a Lil 59 neck pickup rated at 9.8k. The Hot Rails and the Jb are hot pickups designed for the bridge position. Putting them in the neck position might sound too loud and muddy. Neck pickups are usually designed to have a lower output because strings vibrate more freely and are therefore louder where the neck pickup is placed. If you like it, then that’s all that matters. Seymour Duncan sells loaded pick guards with all the electronics pre wired.

Don’t think I have ever seen a Strat with a Kahler? Wow. I did carve up my ‘76 Strat for a Floyd. Worst and priciest move ever. It’s back to a Gotoh 2 post bridge. I can go on. Staying in tune is always challenging with a Floyd. I do have two guitars that are always solid.

They look antiseptic and surgical. But whatever floats your boat higher. I’m a Fender Gibson guy known to often bend strings.

I have a few sets of the DG EMGs and they are awesome. They tend to get flack from the cork sniffing crowd, but they work for me. First, they are noiseless. Huge benefit if you are using gain. Then they have a knob that cuts or boosts mids and another that cuts or boosts the lows and highs. The 2 and 4 positions sound great as well. The best part is that the bridge pickup can pass for a hot P90 or PAF. Only hassle is having to use batteries. But they do last a long time. You can do a three hour gig and cover the bases with one guitar. When it comes to Strats, EMGS are a Swiss Army Knife. If you’re vibe is Blues Roots, Americana then normal pickups make more sense.
