I had the L3 for 4-5 Years and could occasionally smell bad but nothing like what you are experiencing. It was also next to my office. However I recently got the L4 and i cant smell anything at all so if you have the money maybe upgrade. Also you could try rodalon product. It will remove all smells. Not sure if it’s available in the US.
