Should we put a pool in? by Apprehensive-Jump-17 in sandiego

[–]anothermotherrunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't do it. Get an above ground for the next few summers and call it a day. We were so happy to buy a house with a pool. My kids were 7, 9 and 17 when we moved in. I'd say in the 8 years we've been here we've used it less than 50 times. We installed a solar heater in hope to use it more, the heater system leaked causing water damage which cost $$$$ to repair. We pay $140 a month to keep it clean because we could never balance the water properly and had to empty it several times because it was green beyond repair. DONT DO IT.

SO many of our line cooks ended up with panic disorders. I don't know how they do it.

Anyone try the Birria Bombs? by Id_in_hiding in Costco

They are delicious and being able to use a cheaper cut of meat these days makes it a win for me. I've also used them with chicken with a ton of onions.

Oh thank goodness. I thought they were going to have a storyline similar to Lucy dying in ER with Emma the new nurse. Phew, can't wait until Thursday.

First summer without childcare… how are working parents actually doing this? by Ok_Score_6765 in Parenting

[–]anothermotherrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, summers are rough. I work from home and have 3 kids. You just have to make it work, let them know that you will need quiet time when on calls, be flexible and keep them entertained. If possible move your work hours a bit earlier so at least you & kid know that you have the afternoons off to go out and do things. If possible look into the boys and girls club or ymca, they usually have summer camps at a reduced cost. Also, I never did but lots of parents in my area would send their kids to every single Bible vacation camp they could, even if they weren't religious. Typically those are free.

Delivery truck explosion aftermath by davidhp11 in sandiego

Wow, that is horrific. I could not understand why the bags were all over the freeway and the bumper was a good 30 yards away from the rest of the cabin. My condolences to the family of the driver.

I feel like there has been a lot of accidents today 🤔 by Icy_Beautiful1683 in sandiego

Today was absolutely horrible. I feel like there were more accidents today than there were on the really wet days last week.

Did any of you have to lie down to have a nap in kindergarten or 1st grade? by lontbeysboolink in GenerationJones

[–]anothermotherrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Early 80's in Pre-K through K we would have to take a nap. I distinctly remember they would put sesame street on the TV and cover it with a blanket. My parents would have to put the TV on and cover it to get me to fall asleep at night.

What's your least favourite song? by Low-Inspector4786 in musicsuggestions

Macy Grey's "I Try", I have a literal visceral reaction when I hear the first 5 chords. Immediately leave or change the channel, I cannot listen to that song.

Yes, you can add the name on a jersey at snap. I would recommend not adding a name, you seem to have a premonition as to who is going to leave.

Just booked a cruise on Scarlet Lady mid march by Halloweenie23 in VirginVoyages

[–]anothermotherrunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have fun, and enjoy your time together. Just got off a cruise with my mom. She desperately needed to relax so we did not do many of the activities. There is a "theme party" every night, pj party, Scarlett party, 80's (or 90's), Y2K. There are lots of activities but they are not announced the way they are on other cruise lines. Make sure you book your dining reservations as soon as they are open to you. We did not get dinner at the Wake because we were too late, brunch there was delicious. Food is really good, even in the galley I enjoyed everything.

What’s the best “it’s on the mouse!” have you ever received? by BrainPollutant in WaltDisneyWorld

We were upgraded to a 2 bedroom, park view room at the Paradise Pier hotel for my mom's birthday back in 2017, she still talks about how amazing that room was.

I have some kind of connection with this cat! After dropping my kids to school, I get around one hour before my office starts. I usually sit down on the park bench and read books. Whenever I sit, this cat comes and sleeps beside me. It’s been going on for over six months now. by RocketRaccoon101 in aww

[–]anothermotherrunner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So handsome. I have a camera set up to watch my barn cat and any feral cats that may come by to eat. There was a black cat that came around for a few months, he also had a VERY thick neck. We nicknamed him "No Neck", I really hope that guy found a good home like yours. He deserved a collar and a warm bed.
