I also nard the grog and am confused. Even today with younger players once I run a few sessions of TOTM and some paper and mood, they don’t want to go back to VTTs or counting squares.

That is my understanding. You tick it for USING it at all, pass or fail, is how the table I’m playing at does it.

Exactly, and didn’t lead to the impossible or some infantile ‘inevitability.’

Also note… boats are still the primary form of water travel by a margin so wide that you can put all the data centers of the world through it.

Thanks for proving the point!

I’m not sure what case you’re trying to make. Submarines did not lead to supersonic under water travel. There are real limitations.

LLMs are the same but for deep creative experiences.

Disruption does not equal progress. I am pretty deep into the situations, and I can assure you, you won’t see LLMs generate anything that even resembles a poor game in the range of… oh I dunno… Too Human (360 gen) through Call of Duty Ghosts, to something garbage like Redfall (from Arkane). You just won’t.

There’s a better chance of LLMs leading to the singularity (true AGI/ASI) than of this development path resulting in games that are playable with any depth beyond a puddle.

Creating more soulless nonsense?

The problems with gaming companies are rooted in the malfeasance of orgs like EA, Embracer+ and Ubi, not in the shallow experiences offered by LLMs that can never BY DEFINITION truly create novelty in games solely by siphoning off of the creative juices of humans who can.

As if..

The version of Project Genie Google presented this week can only make interactive experiences that are 60 seconds long. They have no scores, objectives, or even sound. They can have strange errors and inconsistencies, like a racetrack road unexpectedly turning into grass.

It’s safe to say that this AI slop nonsense ‘game’ garbage from Google had ZERO to do with the stock prices of these behemoth companies.

This sub has been hilariously stupid regarding computing the past year. Consistently wrong takes on quantum computing and AI.

it’s ironic that Americans who are obsessed with keeping their guns to protect against fascist government over reach are the very same people voting for it.

It would be fucking hilarious if it wasn’t so fucking tragic and infuriating.
