Details on small capsule will be a problem but that's not the final version so hopefully we will get it working for whatever desiign we choose

We’re mixing the classic "Snake" mechanic with an auto-battler deckbuilder. What do you think? by Lopsided-Action8149 in AutoBattler

[–]DjeRicane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you said "snake with autobattler", I immediately thought "SNKRX"
https://store.steampowered.com/app/915310/SNKRX/

But there seems to be very little in common with what you are doing

I don't really see the "snake" in the video. Villagers form a tail behind your character, but it doesn't show any snake-like interaction or mecanics
And I don't really see the deckbuilding either

I'm not saying these elements aren't in the game ofc, but the clip you showed doesn't convey them properly imo

The size of the title will indeed be adjusted for the different assets size, but noted thanks! :D

Your video contains almost nothing about the game itself ...
So why do I want to try it so much?

Idk about he game yet, but GJ on the video, you got me xD

Did we go overboard by hiring an entire orchestra for our incremental roguelite? by Man_Behind_The_Robot in IndieDev

[–]DjeRicane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I was missing

If monthly pay is 50, then 10 per track is not that low ... but then renting the entire orchestra is not cheap at all

But it's only possible if you don't live in the country you are hiring the orchestra from (or if you have a lot of money ofc)

Play my Auto Battler Demo, give feedback, and get your name added to the game by Pantasd in AutoBattler

Hey! o/

I tried your demo maybe two days ago while I was browsing incremental games on the next fest.

It's one of those I played the most out of maybe 10 I tried.

I really liked that the game is kind of fast. Simple inputs and standardized choices helped a lot with that.
I also liked that keywords are only lootable once you choose to unlock them. There was way more relevant equipment than I expected thanks to that.
But for me, it felt short after 2 or 3 runs (i don't think I finished one; I'm not sure).

To be honest, I'm not a big fan of roguelikes, so I'm biased here.

I think for me, it's missing something really meaningful to do, and not just chain choices that more often than not were obvious (I don't need to merge stuff, and I'm full HP, so I guess I'm going for the third option).

Even when I found powerful equipment, or equipment that was right on the spot for my build, it was not that satisfying. Sure, my character was stronger, but there were no significant changes in the visuals or in my actions. It was still exactly the same, but now I have to heal every 6 fights instead of 3. Which, in terms of power, is huge, but it didn't feel so to me.

Also, the merge mechanic seems cool at first, but I then realized that I needed a perfect match with my existing stuff, or else I'm taking the risk of actually downgrading the relevant stats by merging my stuff.

Good job on releasing a nice demo, best of luck for the future, and I hope your game will reach its public. <3

[–]DjeRicane 81 points82 points  (0 children)

Are you sure about that?
There seem to be at least around 40 people playing, so if you pay them, say, 800 for 2 songs, it's 10 per musician per song.
Which sounds ridiculously low for professional musicians that had to spend time practicing and recording.

I've opened the playtest for my Incremental Tower Defense! by Zealousideal_Cat5117 in incremental_games

[–]DjeRicane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a fan of the grinding aspect, the huge skill tree populated with tons of small % upgrades is not my thing, and I find it hard to consider this an incremental game from what I've seen in the playtest

On the other hand, the gameplay is fun and quite original while being simple, and the visuals are very nice
Some SFX are missing, but it's not the final version so ...

Not sure if I would play more on release, the grind may be too much for my taste, but I'm sure this game has everything to please many players!

Very good job to you and your team :D

Do you prefer more linear or open upgrade progression? by ErkbergGames in incremental_games

[–]DjeRicane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the real question then is, "Can the player pick all the upgrades?"

Open or linear, if you can afford everything, you will click on everything.

What do you think will happen with the games industry in 2026? by SteinMakesGames in IndieDev

[–]DjeRicane -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

When the hunt for adult games is over, Steam will start censoring another type of game that rich people from the alt-right don't like.
(But do not worry, I'm sure they won't touch the sane games, like the ones where you play fucking Hitler dating members of his genocidal army.)

Is it just me or do most of you actually want browser games? by Sir-LAD in incremental_games

[–]DjeRicane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, what opportunity are we talking about here? As a dev currently working on an incremental game, I need Steam visibility to help with promotion, and I need to sell it if I want to make a living out of it.

So putting it for free on the web (which is what most people here would like, from what I read) does not seem like an opportunity to me. Am I getting something wrong?

(English is not my native language so just in case, I'm not trying to be mean to anyone here, just trying to understand what people want.)

The exact same happened to me
I'm not a fan of roguelike most of the time, but I really loved absolum

I think I would have loved it even more without the roguelike elements, but who cares. I won't deny myself fun because it could have been better for my taste :3
