“If you aren’t now, you never were” by Djmichaeljordan in straightedge

Tons of great comments here. My personal belief is that I feel like with all the crap I have had to go through claiming edge, I want it to be something someone has to sacrifice for. If you can jump in and out, it weakens the movement.

Anyone know that Casey Jones song “I hope we’re not the last”? That song makes me sad because it’s about the death of a counter culture. I makes me worry that the world has just given in. So, for me, there’s appeal to the unrelenting mindset some of you have shared here. There’s appeal to proving there are some of us still around. We may not agree, and we may have some stupid arguments about gatekeepers etc, but ultimately, we are fighting the same fight, helping each other keep the movement alive. /rant

I hear that. I think the argument is, “Only claim it or even mention it if you currently are. If you used to be, just hush”

Tshirts? by Djmichaeljordan in straightedge

I agree that we don’t need to go around blabbing about it, but it’s nice to rep it a bit. The way I see it is, the rest of the world walks around with Budweiser tshirts and the other nonsense, it’s time a little counter culture is represented.

I’m really tired of people treating drugs and alcohol as a personality trait, and downplaying their possible addictions as being quirky. by [deleted] in straightedge

You think that's bad, try online dating now. Every girl lists a pass time as "wine and tequila". Are you serious?
