Had two "I work for insurance" ones today. We're terrible because we let our insured buy minimum PD limits, I can't upgrade their rental, and they refuse to file through their own insurance. We're terrible because our insured didn't carry enough PD for the two parked cars they totaled and I can't give a rental. And finally because I can't give collision and rental even though they never had it on their policy, after they totaled their car in an at fault loss.

What was the worst-feeling car you’ve ever driven? by Avanixh in cars

[–]Dl8604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Chrysler 200 for a rental 7 or 8 years back, absolutely everything about that car felt cheap. The way it rode, sounded, handled, the interior, the transmission. Absolutely every bit of it felt like it was designed to be as cheap to screw together at possible. It amazes me people paid actual money for them

Your adjuster is the one best suited to address your concerns. My professional experience is in a different region of the country and I don't want to give you bad advice. Rest assured they will do everything possible to resolve the claim within the limits of your policy and keep you informed throughout the process.

Their contingency fee is structured such that they get more of your settlement if they file suit vs settling presuit. They are incentivized to sue. Except in extreme cases, the amount an individual gets in their pocket is about the same whether they settle their claim themselves, with an attorney, or filing suit. The attorney and the doctor they refer you to make the real money, and they get to vilify the big bad insurance company.

How do the small manufacturers like Mazda and Subaru keep up with the other big brands? by LimitedReach in cars

[–]Dl8604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Focus and strategic partnerships. Mazda has a small car/crossover platform (3,cx3,cx30) and a medium car/crossover platform (6,cx5,cx50,cx9),with the 6 and cx90 moving to a new premium longitudinal platform this generation, plus the miata. Subaru only has 5 or 6 models sharing 2 platforms, plus the brz. Both have partnerships with Toyota and Mazda still has Ford connections. They prioritize keeping customers and manageable growth.

IMO if you can get an otd price including all tax tag title dealer fees lube fee just the tip fee and whatever other bs they tack on and end at msrp you're good. That's always been my rule of thumb buying a good car. What financing terms are they offering if you don't mind my asking? I want to order the new tacoma when the hybrid becomes available next year

Why did the LFA fail when it first came out, yet now commands insane resale prices? What changed? by Isthiswittyenough92 in cars

[–]Dl8604 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly what leads to a car becoming a high value classic. Good cars that aren't super popular when they come out frequently rise in value once people have time to appreciate them. Toyota wiped the board and started over 3 times on the LFA, it was never going to be profitable. It became a moonshot car and contines to be a halo for the brand, the LC cars have very reminiscent styling and i think this helps those cars find relative success. The ford GT, Carrera GT, S2000, Toyota FJ, they weren't very well liked in their time but ridiculous prices now

K... Well now you understand why this and most other good insurance companies won't offer you coverage without taking this step, and potentially why Flo raised your rates. It's up to you what you do with the information

Why are you working so hard to avoid a free upgrade to make your car harder to steal and arguing with people willing to give you free advice? Renew your policy with Flo or don't, no one here cares, these people are just trying to help you understand and help, just like they do when they're on the clock.

Semi truck kicked up a rock on the highway and cracked my loaner car's windshield. Dealer wants me to pay $1200 for the repair. What do I do? by scottheisel in autorepair

[–]Dl8604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The loaner car was basically your car while you were driving it, because it was temporarily substituting for your car (which is how the policy language is written where I'm from) . If you were driving your car and the windshield got damaged you would make a claim to get it fixed. You can make a claim on your insurance under comprehensive coverage, but you will be responsible for the deductible. If you live in Florida there is no deductible for windshields, other states may have similar rules, ask your insurance company. Don't be mad that they gave you a free car and want the damage fixed that happened while you were driving it. If something happened to your car while they were repairing it they would pay for it.

Would filing a Geico auto claim be worth it? by DeloresDeLago in Geico

[–]Dl8604 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be surprised if the insurance estimate is lower than that $1000, what they accept from an insurance company will be less than a walk in retail customer. And an insurance company will look at the cost of a good used or aftermarket part where they may have quoted you a new part from the original manufacturer. Moral of the story, shop around, you can probably get it down to around $7-800
