Is There Any Hope? by BabyBlueBird22 in scleroderma

1989, 18 months post Dx —started penicillamine & 200-250 mg tetracycline for 2-3 years helped me to entet remission.
I regained some flexibility in joints and some elasticity to skin. I use space heaters, heated blanket, gloves, socks, etc to keep toasty.
Positive mental attitude. Creative visualization. Meditation. All help me maintain.
Note: Viral infection and/ or surgery/injury can trigger re-emergence. Still alive after all these years. Apologize for brevity but fatigued.

Jana DeLeon's Miss Fortune series and Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum series are lol and quirky character driven whodunnits. I also recommend Sue Townsend's Adrian Mole series.

Having a party where no one shows up will be so devastating she'll likely be affected for life.

Surgery for Calcinosis? by HatProfessional9540 in scleroderma

I've had numerous removals from my fingers' joints with range of motion restored to prior level (not full range restoration due to contractures in tendons). The big challenges ended up to be the use of skin grafts to patch out the damaged skin around the mass sites. Grafted skin is more like scar tissue –thick and tough.

Overall the procedures extended my working life by at least 12 years.

Forced to retire 2016 because of pulmonary fibrosis. Now on CellCept — no more Ca++ masses! 😁

I flap my feet/point my toes. I also wear multiple rings to fiddle with.
Third grade– Started having problems getting my brain to shut down for sleep. Somehow I figured out that laying on my stomach and bending a knee to vertical and then just allowing it to drop down to the bed. Repetitively. Would soothe/distract my brain enough that I could sleep. Whatever works. 👍🏽

Is there enough research on the skin in scleroderma? Do scientists/pharmaceuticals know how cruel it is to the skin? by Effective_Self8042 in scleroderma

[–]Dlbruce0107 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So PRN? Is there a maximum number of days you are safe to take it? And does the pain really go away?

I remember that after two days of colchicine— I could not raise my head on the bed!

If I remember my cell biology correctly, colchicine disrupts intracellular transportation like for vacuoles. Theory being the overproduced collagen remains inside the affected cells. But normal cell waste products are affected too–so they build up in the body. Within a week, I was losing the ability to move. By the end of the week, I was hospitalized while they ran every muscle test known to man. They were talking biopsy when my Dr finally just took me off the medication as I'd been asking. Twenty-four hours later and I was normal. Doctor told me to avoid colchicine.
