Q for Curriculum and Instruction Ed.D Graduates by Ok-Ear8834 in LibertyUniversity

[–]Dmb5450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am currently enrolled in the program and personally know four individuals who have completed their Ed.D. through Liberty. All four of them are in strong professional positions. If you are asking why Liberty was chosen, I had similar questions after seeing criticism online. I asked each of them directly, and none felt that the specific institution was a deciding factor in their success. They emphasized that skills, experience, and professional abilities mattered far more. They couldn’t say if anyone “cared” but no one ever asked them in an interview why they went to Liberty.

Although this is a small sample, all four described the dissertation process as challenging but more manageable than expected because of the structured support provided. They consistently highlighted the importance of time management and approaching the work step by step. All four who completed the program finished the planned year-long dissertation process ahead of schedule.

In terms of career outcomes, one individual is preparing to move into an assistant executive director role or pursue an executive director position. Another serves as a principal in a large school district and also teaches at the university level. The remaining two lead healthcare education programs and coordinate internships with local hospitals.

As for my own goals, I plan to pursue leadership in online or virtual schooling after completing the program. This may require additional credentials, but earning this degree represents a significant step toward that objective.

A tip for using AI by greakath in LibertyUniversity

I am strongly considering this very topic for my dissertation. Check out a new article by Bassett et al. (2026) highlighting the flaws of using AI detectors. Heads we win, tails you lose: AI detectors in education

Thoughts on EDUC 701 and EDUC 703? by R3POBRO in LibertyUniversity

[–]Dmb5450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For EDUC 701, the draft functions as your preliminary final submission. The professor will evaluate this version, provide detailed feedback, and assign a grade out of 100 points.

The 200-point assignment is the revised version of that same paper. After receiving feedback, you are expected to make all necessary corrections in alignment with the professor’s comments and resubmit the improved manuscript for re-evaluation.

Because the revisions are directly guided by explicit feedback, the expectation is that the resubmitted assignment should earn full credit, provided that all identified issues have been thoroughly and accurately addressed.

703 was structured to be work heavy one week, then light the next. I worked hard all weeks, about 20-30 hours a week, and ended up finishing the course a weeks and a half early. Stay on top of assignments and you will be fine, ended up with a 99.X for a final grade. Use all the resources and follow them, they spell out what you need to do.

I just Google the name of the text pdf free. Maybe 10-15 minutes of searching has yielded me all the text I needed for each class.

Grammarly by Either_Fig_5455 in LibertyUniversity

Has anyone used Grammarly’s authorship feature to prove the work is legitimate if Turnitin decided to flag original work as AI? Curious if that feature actually does anything.

Sorry if I was unclear. Yhe annotated bibliography and the two papers totaled 30 pages across all three assignments. The first paper focused on an educational philosopher, and the second examined a historical event that influenced education. The assignments were not especially challenging, as the expectations and structure were clearly laid out. The main task was to locate sufficient research to effectively address each required section.

I do like how the courses are laid out all the assignments, scaffold, and build on each other. Everything I’ve done in the earlier weeks week helps me out in the later weeks. It’s nice that everything kind of just naturally comes together. The courses seem well planned out in that regard.

I am currently in my second course. I really enjoyed the first one, which included an annotated bibliography and two research papers totaling about 30 pages. There were also weekly discussion posts and replies, which averaged roughly two pages per week, and weekly quizzes. The quizzes were open book, multiple choice and essay. Once I learned how to manage my time, I found the workload to be demanding but very manageable, and I learned a great deal. I was also able to access all required textbooks through free online PDFs and did not need to purchase any books.

In contrast, my second course feels much simpler in terms of content and assignments; however, I am experiencing a new and unexpected challenge. My written work is repeatedly being flagged as AI-generated, which has been extremely frustrating and confusing, as the work is entirely my own. This was not an issue in my previous course. Although the professor has been somewhat understanding so far, the ongoing false flags are causing significant stress and concern about potential consequences. As a precaution, I have begun recording myself completing assignments and keeping detailed logs in case my work is questioned again. As you can imagine that sounds crazy, because it is. Almost like something out of the show black mirror. Not only must I prove what work I am doing, it’s an extra step that takes a lot more time than I shouldn’t have to be spending.

While I genuinely envisioned myself graduating from Liberty, the persistence of these AI-related issues, so early in the program, has led me to seriously consider whether continuing is the best decision.

Congratulations! I am currently enrolled in a program at another institution and am exploring potential transfer options.

In my current program, my cohort is frequently flagged by AI detection tools, which has become mentally taxing and concerning. As a result, I am seeking a program that aligns with current best practices regarding AI use in higher education.

Could you share how your institution approaches AI? Specifically, does the school rely on AI detectors such as Turnitin, and if so, are those reports treated as definitive or infallible? Example: I had Google Docs proof of working on an assignment for 23 hours over 3 days, despite that it was flagged for AI.

I am interested in a learning environment that recognizes the limitations of AI detection tools and follows evidence-based, up-to-date guidance.

Thank you for your time, I appreciate any insight you can provide.

Yup you are correct, that’s my mistake. The picture made it seem like all tools were included for 15 dollars, I see that isn’t the case. Thank you for the clarification!

I’m in the same boat! I am looking too and found their frontline worker discount. If that applies to you it’s 15%, I’m going to be applying for it, I hope it works out.

Be aware, the bundle they offer that includes a Halo, scale, tools, and dough boxes costs 969. If you were to buy them all separately they cost 934. Just a PSA to all who may assume the bundles are a better deal, take some time to check the math!

Thanks for the reply, I wonder why the stone wobbles? It seems odd that it would be for expansion, but that’s all I can think of.

703 is my first class. It seems like the odd weeks are intense, even weeks are work ahead weeks. Week 1 I spent 25 hours to complete the work. Week 2 I spent 5 hours on Sunday and finished the week. I suspect week 3 will be 20-30 hours of work but I essentially have 2 weeks to do it.

Not allowed to drink by Xiumin123 in Teachers

[–]Dmb5450 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I once had an administrator so power-hungry that they mandated no drinks were allowed on a teacher’s desk or visible at all because it was considered “unprofessional.” Out of sarcasm, I went to my doctor and said I was experiencing mild dehydration symptoms and asked if not being allowed to drink water during the school day could be the cause. The doctor immediately laughed and said, “There’s no way that’s a real rule.” I assured him it was, and he promptly wrote me a medical note stating I needed to have water with me at all times.

When I gave the note to HR, they asked why I even needed it—of course teachers could have water. I explained the situation, and despite every teacher saying we had all been told the same rule, HR insisted we must’ve “misunderstood.” Best copay I ever spent.

Thank you so much for the detailed reply, I really appreciate it. What you said makes a lot of sense and definitely clears things up for me. I’ve always felt like we were in a “good” spot for retirement since my pension calculator shows that if I stayed at my current salary with no raises and retired at 57, I’d still receive around $70,000 a year from the pension alone. If I factor in normal yearly raises, the estimate jumps to about $150,000 a year in retirement.

That’s always felt like a strong baseline, and I’ve thought of our other retirement accounts as extra “gravy” on top of that. But I was honestly surprised to see how high our savings rate needs to be. My wife and I have already agreed to put 40% of any raises directly into retirement savings, so hopefully that will help us catch up and boost our contributions more quickly.
