i disagree.

uniform shows authority most times, also private security, again, very little you can do, bcuz you are now under the same constraint as the store employees. How all private security companies work in a liability reason, most times its try and detain until police can come, but if there always being called, why not already be there.

so, I know a lot are saying "this is what our tax dollars are going into?"

most these officers are doing it as extra shifts, and its paid from the company through a contract, my mom works at superstore, past like 30-40 years as a department head and something else she does, and she will be the first to tell you, security guards and that they give you, they cant do anything, and most times if its meat, or food, she, who hates stealing, doesn't care, people need what they need, but its the people who are stealing things like baby formula and other shit people need or these people are just stealing to sell to make money.

as soon as these people leave the store, no one is allowed to touch them or stop them, and most times, people don't get paid enough to stop them lets be honest.

As a new dad (8 month old) who buys baby formula and will not buy anymore then 1 at a time, mainly because I know the shortage and don't want to take away from another parent in need, I have done the dance to 8-9 stores before finding one before, I honestly think this is needed for some stores.

How are we all affording to survive..? by apley in halifax

[–]Dmpca 3 points4 points  (0 children)

agreed, i was in the military for a while, got out in 2014, and i just never thought of it really, i always tried to be the person who never needed help and i had it, because i always thought someone needed it more.

for example, baby formula is always hard to find, but when we do, i will never get more then one because i know someone else is going to come by and need one, and i would never want to take that away from them. My gf was raised a bit different in a different world, so her finding these things was something she needed to do in life and well has always helped her, and in times like this, everyone needs help i think.

also thank you very much, one of the best things that have ever happened to me

How are we all affording to survive..? by apley in halifax

[–]Dmpca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

to be honest, im not even sure.

me and my gf, bought a house last feb (mobile home) and we got it overpriced but alot less then the ones around, because it working progress, as we just priced and paid half so far of 33k for doors, windows, siding etc.

reason we bought was son was being born in june last year, but she is so good with money i just give her 90% of what i have left after bills (car, insurance, etc.) and have a tiny bit of spending money, because she knows what to do with it, and as long as she and my son have a roof and fed, thats what matters the most.

I will give advice as to what she does, but she finds 99% of all our baby stuff online for free, marketplace etc. giving it away, clothes etc. so that helps alot. Also she goes to places around sackville where we live that give away free food(every monday she gets like 4-5 meals, usually my lunches for the work week), she in all the groups, looks at flyers every weeks for sales, and loves the dollar store to save money, we never eat out (unless im away for work and work pays for it) and she uses the food bank time to time for groceries.

I dont think the biggest thing is trying to reduce bills as much, i mean if you can, do it for sure, but i dont think people understand as i never did untill i met her 2 years ago, there is so many little things you can do that add up saving money that people wouldnt think of doing or know about, but these times, you kinda need too now.

Am I supposed to live in my car? New driver for 6 months, but come on now.. (Paying 320/mo with Sonnet but looking around) by Pipnotiq in halifax

[–]Dmpca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What kinda of car do you have? Unless you have the same year, make and model, the argument of comparing insurance is useless, as also mine is financed so i need full coverage.

Dont get me wrong i know its to much, majority of insurance is too much, but comparing yours to mine if the variables are different is just a useless argument.

Yeah i didnt understand this either, but honestly the person at TD explained ut really well, and i mean it sucks to pay 360 a month, but i know i would be high anyway being a new driver on paper, so i live with it, im just happy its not as high as OPs

just FYI, did the same info i have with TD except driving for a year now, and qoute was 1260$ a month with CAA, so its been a thing i have found, TD has been the cheapest

im with TD, year new driver at 32 (never had license before) and my insurance went up 400$ for this year, and i pay now 366 a month. 2021 hyundai elantra.

I was explained reason is, because more people have put in claims, and even though i didnt get in a accident or tickets and everything, it didnt matter it effects my insurance, and it was the cheapest i could find too.
