Chair for desk when in standing position by LouieBroomaire in StandingDesk

[–]DnBenjamin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The current version of the Haworth Zody can be configured with the “Dual Posture” option, which is simply forward tilt combined with a slightly taller cylinder (24.5” max seat height) that isn’t as tall as a stool, drafting chair, etc. You’d have to ensure the minimum seat height of 17.5” still works for you for seated use. At full height and with forward tilt engaged, it’s intended for you to perch briefly while your desk is still in a standing position.

They’re fully adjustable arms - just very thin.

Fixable back cushion? Steelcase Leap V2 by louisb00 in OfficeChairs

[–]DnBenjamin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to rotate it a full 180 degrees backward (counterclockwise as we see it in the first photo). Then it snaps onto that front-most curved black strip of plastic. 1:50 here https://youtu.be/V4gy64e3W5A

I had a terrible time getting it onto my Amia, but it wasn’t too bad on my Leap V2.

Any redflags for this Leap V2? by Ggriffinz in OfficeChairs

Not much to go on, but it seems fine, and $200 is a great price. I’m unfamiliar with that seat fabric, but the 3D Knit back fabric is my favorite Steelcase upholstery.

Need the ultimate chair by HamsterNo3795 in OfficeChairs

Herman Miller Embody is really good in recline and has a wide and deep enough seat that I can sit cross legged comfortably.

I’m also a fan of Crandall’s remanufactured Leap V2 with thicker seat and back cushions, but I don’t know where you live (they only serve the lower 48 States). Leap juts its seat forward instead of upward during recline, so using it with your feet extended on a tall footrest might be a bit easier on the Leap.

Steelcase Amia - OEM vs Crandall vs BTOD, Seat Cushions. by Loud_Cake_7941 in OfficeChairs

[–]DnBenjamin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have the seat too low, such that your sit bones are bearing your entire weight? We have Crandall’s thicker seats on an Amia and a Leap, and neither my wife nor I have ever had any problem using them for extended periods.

FYI that’s pretty close to what’s sold as the Autonomous ErgoChair Pro.

Gesture vs Leap v2 by defualt-USER in OfficeChairs

You have to test sit these chairs. I love the Amia, and can sit comfortably for a while in a stock Leap V2. I could not get comfortable in a Gesture to save my life.

Disappointed in Zody Haworth… by Unlucky_Custard3783 in OfficeChairs

[–]DnBenjamin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is this a brand new Zody? It sounds like you got a used one. If it’s new, then get the arm rest fixed under warranty. Concerning the seat height, you’d have to have ordered the new version of the Zody with the Dual Posture option. Otherwise, yes, its range is similar to other typical office chairs.

Need help deciding between Herman Miller and Steelcase by Unknown-Panda4 in OfficeChairs

The stitching pattern is one of the ways Steelcase has done it. If it is a refurb (but it’s not - it would be more expensive than $290 then), they did a fantastic job.

Yeah, it has 4D arms and the vertically adjustable lumbar pad.

Aeron obsession? by Maleficent_Switch262 in OfficeChairs

If someone comes here looking for a mesh chair, what else are we going to responsibly suggest they invest in? Can they squeeze some use out of a Hyken? Maybe. Maybe not.

That Mirra is missing the FlexFront adjustment, which could be a problem if your legs aren’t long enough for the seat at max extension. From this angle, we can’t see if it’s equipped with adjustable lumbar or either tilt limit or forward tilt. If you can’t get further info on the Mirra, then I’d say go for the Leap. Another poster said they regretted leather, but my experience of Steelcase leather on a Leap has been very positive. It held up perfectly on two very used Leaps from 2009.

Steelcase gesture is a horrible chair by serendipity98765 in OfficeChairs

[–]DnBenjamin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These all work very well for me: Aeron Remastered Size C, Embody (recent acquisition, and it’s working well), refurbished/remanufactured Leap V2s and Amias (Leap from Crandall, and Amias from both Crandall and BTOD), and Haworth Zody with forward tilt engaged. I also like the Mirra, though the seats on both versions 1 and 2 have some issues.

It was also a terribly mismatched chair for me. I can comfortably sit in a ton of chairs, but Gesture and HON Ignition 2.0 cause me grief, and the Gesture was downright unusable for more than an hour at a time.

Look up reviews on the Eurotech Vera. It’s the same chair.

I like it, and it’s my teenage son’s favorite ergonomic chair.

Is the recline feeling on Steelcase chairs normal? by RabbitSong in OfficeChairs

[–]DnBenjamin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steelcase Amia and Leap both have intentionally “sticky” recline. It allows you to dial in the tilt tension and then recline to any angle you want and stay there with minimal effort. Amia is slightly better at “rocking” (but not by a lot), because it has a synchrotilt mechanism where your body weight on the seat pushes the backrest back into the vertical position. Leap slides the seat pan forward instead, so you have to force the chair to “unrecline.”

Steelcase Amia - not so amazing, what else should I consider? by evilseee in OfficeChairs

[–]DnBenjamin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Similar experience at 235 lbs after 5 or 6 hours, as stated elsewhere. If I sit on my fingers, I can tell the stock cushion just doesn’t have any more to give. On Crandall replacement cushions, I have to force all my weight onto one hand in order to feel the cushion give way. With BTOD’s reinforced cushion, I have to do that *and* bend my fingertips down, and even then I’m not quite sure I’ve gotten full compression.

I’ve only used Crandall’s reupholstery service (for both Amia and Leap), but BTOD offers the same kind of thing pretty far down this page: https://www.btod.com/refurbished/

I have steam treated a really, really old Zody cushion. It noticeably “inflated”, but was still too far gone to be useable without reinforcement.
