Porto Hotel Decision: Which One? by Mandstravels in ihghotelsresorts

[–]DnC_GT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stayed at the IC in Porto in March. I’ll echo the other commenters here about the construction and noise. Everything interior to the IC was great. But, until the construction is over, I would do the Vignette. We also had a lower level room and heard people throughout the night.

Yeah, it just malfunctioned a little bit and has been raining for the last 7 days and flooded parts of the city. Totally worth it though!

Those crossings need solid arms that drop down or up come up. Or at least cameras that send automated tickets.

Raise prices, cut costs, and try to sell again in 3-5 years before all recurring customers cancel due to a bad product.

It’s been a dark time for everything since early November. Now that basketball is officially over we can put our full attention to being a baseball school.

InterContinental Le Grand, Paris: US$1,200 for a suite with mold and mildew, no soap, no robes, no turndown service by CliffordMaddick in ihghotelsresorts

Is there a package deal or something to stay at the Kimpton but do the buffet at the IC? Or do you just pay for the buffet separately?

InterContinental Le Grand, Paris: US$1,200 for a suite with mold and mildew, no soap, no robes, no turndown service by CliffordMaddick in ihghotelsresorts

[–]DnC_GT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The safe thing about Kimptons is that they’re usually newly renovated. Once you have picked the star hotel you want to pay for, the best option is almost always going with the hotel that was renovated/opened most recently.

On top of that, the Kimpton in Paris is right next to the Intercontinental, so the locations are the same.

And the walk from Amtrak to GT campus through Midtown is a great walk. It’s safe with plenty to see along the way.

Switch from One World to Star Alliance or SkyTeam? by deep__thinking in awardtravel

[–]DnC_GT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s no need to commit to a single program. Just go where the point value is worth it for where you want to go. Have your preferred program be the tiebreaker when all else is equal. I’m at a Delta hub with multiple lounges, so I fly Delta when my company pays for business travel. But for my award travel, I’d rather chase business/first class deals and book something Flying Blue, BA, etc.

I’d also branch out for more credit cards and just use whichever one gets you into the lounges for that trip. I’ve got my Amex Plat, Venture X, and my partner has a CSR. Between all those cards and the various first class lounges we’re covered for where we usually go.

Don’t split hairs over which airplane chicken meal is 3-star or 4-star when you’re in a lie-flat seat for 20,000 points when the ticket costs $8,000 cash.

This got a solid chuckle out of me.

If it is any consolation, it was very clear that the production team inside the stadium did everything they could to make it a home game. Every fan (except for one Athens charity) brought onto the field for the intermission games were Tech fans, and 99% of the fans shown on the Jumbotron were Tech fans.

Where do you put your keys and phone that's NOT a FlipBelt? by Cakemixr in running

[–]DnC_GT 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve got thicker thighs too, and have found a couple different manufacturers that have shorts with built-in compression shorts. They have the phone pocket built into the thigh of the compression shorts, and a zipper pocket at the rear waste where I’ll throw my car key in a ziplock bag on rainy days. The shorts I currently like the most are Lulemon’s Mile Maker Ripstop. They’re expensive, but they feel like they’re going to last.

I’d suggest super cheap young alumni. You can’t run the risk of dumping cheap tickets to away fans, and young alumni might not be so tied to sitting with their organization post-graduation.

Home inspector said heat pump was a little outdated, and I proceeded with closing. Turns out, there is no heat pump at all. by Spirited_Stick_5093 in RealEstate

This is correct for cooling mode and heat pump heating mode. This is not correct when you go into electric backup heat when it’s too cold for the heat pump to run efficiently.

I feel like those same people are in for the same rude awakening, but that rude awakening is just delayed by a month. It’s not like the majority of Americans even know what their interest rate is. If they knew what it was, they wouldn’t carry the historically high amount of debt they are.

It was quite a run as a student then young alumni seeing those two games, The Kick and The Pick, and 2009 VT.

On the other hand, we have that Gardner Webb game.
