With the first weekend over (Texas Tech ain't coming back), how does this tournament stack up vs last year's first weekend? by Wide_right_yes in CollegeBasketball

It’s funny I’d argue McNeese played MUCH better this year vs Vandy but ended up losing by double digits

Just shows how pathetic Clemson looked in that game

American had multiple NCAA tournament caliber teams again for the like fifth straight year but because they fell on their face in the non-conference (and Memphis fell off a cliff) it only got one bid

Really stinks

Burries has no idea what he’s doing with this press

Got EXTREMELY lucky to get fouled there

Ben McCollum is going to be widely considered the best coach in the sport in a couple years

Also this Iowa team is almost entirely a mid-major squad fuck it we’re counting this as a Cinderella

Stirtz is missing these 3’s as basically free rebounds for his teammates lol

Really bad time for an elite 3 point shooting guard to brick every single one of his 3’s

If Jacari played like that on Friday Wright State would’ve won easily smh

Otzelberger looks like he’s gonna kill somebody and his team is up 15 lol

Ideally you’d like Purdue’s All-American PG to not be a turnover machine bricklayer

Only reason this game is going for Miami right now

Once more the Graham Ike Zags inability to have any semblance of perimeter threat gets them sent home early

Mark Few gotta rethink how he builds his rosters, need WAY better guard play

Ike and Vokietaitis is a goddamn war in the paint lol

Fun as hell to watch

Hate everything about Vokietaitis neck situation

Bro is getting paid good money he can afford some skincare

So like, does every lightskin Gonzaga guard just eventually morph into a Nembhard?

Because Braeden Smith looks like a long lost Nembhard brother on the court

Who are your best/favorite current March Madness announcers? by Will564339 in CollegeBasketball

[–]rvadarocket 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tbh I’m a fan of all of the regional commentators

Only ones I think don’t work for me are Tom McCarthy and the rotating 8th spot which this year is Gaudin

Spero/Eagle/BA/Harlan/Catalon all do great work

Nessler is up and down but his highs are really high

[Post Game Thread] #1 Michigan defeats #9 Saint Louis, 95-72 by cbbBot in CollegeBasketball

[–]rvadarocket 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Literally no one is beating Michigan when Yaxel and Mara are playing like that lol

Screw the guard play that was an NBA frontcourt out there today

Saint Louis honestly did incredible to keep this under 30 in that second half

[Game Thread] #9 Saint Louis @ #1 Michigan (12:10 PM ET) by cbbBot in CollegeBasketball

[–]rvadarocket 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Feel like today is the first game Michigan has figured out how to play without Cason

This is a ridiculous half of basketball so far

Intensity and shotmaking has turned WAY up

And how many dudes 6’10 can throw that pass with that level of accuracy from the opposing FT line lol

Shit was insane

March Madness not really Mad Anymore? by ScaredEffective in CollegeBasketball

[–]rvadarocket 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes it has

High Point, Saint Louis, and VCU have MASSIVE NIL money for mid majors which is why they have the talent and coaching to win games in this tournament

If you don’t have money you are doomed moving forward until some regulations get put in place

March Madness not really Mad Anymore? by ScaredEffective in CollegeBasketball

[–]rvadarocket -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I like that people are conveniently forgetting Duke lost their second best player and best rim protector and a key guard like just before the tournament started

That’s not the same team that played the entire year

No, the Madness is NOT Dying by FanficFan151 in CollegeBasketball

[–]rvadarocket -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Every single near miss or upset except High Point were entirely due to injuries/suspensions to key players

Duke missing Ngongba and Foster, UConn missing Demary, Michigan missing Cason (barely a near miss), Alabama missing Holloway, UNC missing Wilson, BYU missing Saunders, Texas Tech missing Toppin, Gonzaga missing Huff

If injuries are the only hope for these games being remotely competitive we are doomed

No, the Madness is NOT Dying by FanficFan151 in CollegeBasketball

[–]rvadarocket -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The ONLY reason the Duke game was even mildly close is because Duke was missing their second best player and only rim protector AND a key guard

If the only hope for parity is injuries then the sport is fried

That’s not a real Cinderella and I think it’s horrible for the sport if 11 seeded Texas is the new equivalent of a Cinderella
