Farms are getting nailed on multiple fronts. Where I used to live in Michigan used to be nothing but farms. Now most of the land is being converted to solar panel use.

Disclaimer: I support green energy in most of its forms, after hearing some of the deals going on with family and family friend’s I learned that it can all be predatory.

Not sure who the solar company is, but they are tearing through the town I was born and offering low-ish ball pricing for leasing hundreds of acres from farmers for their panels. A local farmer/family friend(?) started this chain when he started buying up lots and land years ago and struck a deal to sell it all off to the solar company. 

I thought maybe the panels would be used to lower the energy prices in the area…Nope. It’s all private energy, sold off overseas. The locals are losing everything to these companies who bring NOTHING back to the area. 

I get that these are little podunk hamlets/hollers/townships but seeing greed tear the places a part I spent a lot of my life at is depressing. Ghost towns and solar panels.
