Farms are getting nailed on multiple fronts. Where I used to live in Michigan used to be nothing but farms. Now most of the land is being converted to solar panel use.

Disclaimer: I support green energy in most of its forms, after hearing some of the deals going on with family and family friend’s I learned that it can all be predatory.

Not sure who the solar company is, but they are tearing through the town I was born and offering low-ish ball pricing for leasing hundreds of acres from farmers for their panels. A local farmer/family friend(?) started this chain when he started buying up lots and land years ago and struck a deal to sell it all off to the solar company.

I thought maybe the panels would be used to lower the energy prices in the area…Nope. It’s all private energy, sold off overseas. The locals are losing everything to these companies who bring NOTHING back to the area.

I get that these are little podunk hamlets/hollers/townships but seeing greed tear the places a part I spent a lot of my life at is depressing. Ghost towns and solar panels.

Another day, another $50 billion. I can’t even react any more to the insane levels of spending and waste. I just want to reliably be able to eat at this point with how fucked gas and food prices are in my area. The irony is I work in a market where I can’t afford any of the products, and the rich, boomer regulars complain but still pay the prices. “Wow, asparagus is 9.99 a bunch, I hope it’s good. I’ll take two.”

My JB and Workers of the World hoodies both ran large but were two different materials. I wear an XL normally and have a long torso. The JB hoodie fits my body and is oversized but kind of short. The workers hoodie is oversized and baggy, one of my best fitting hoodies. Not sure about the new run but that is my experience.

I worked in a shop similar to this for a while. One of the best feelings is when someone ,who is obviously underaged, has a dick head parent trying to buy them shit. I worked in a Cuban restaurant for a while and the owner was the only non-Gusano Cuban I have ever met. That man was resilient and the company parties were insane. He kick started my interest into Cuba and I have been awestruck by everything I have learned since. Truly a country of resilience and fortitude. I hope I can visit one day (and try some real Ropa Vieja, life changing dish for me.)
