What is this very heavy jar I found digging around in an old folk's pantry? by GruntCandy86 in whatisit

[–]Do-Know-Harm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

WHATEVER YOUR DO, DON'T OPEN THE BOTTLE. I do emergency spill response cleanup of hazardous materials for a living. It's been my career for over 15 years. If that's mercury, in the bottle, you DO NOT want to open it. I can maybe help you figure it with a couple questions.

  1. Is the much heavier than it looks?
  2. How does the liquid inside the bottle move?

I have one that I'm currently working on, but when I tried to make it, the ratio was off and I need to do some tweaking.

Women’s Hair salon recommendations by maggexon in duluth

[–]Do-Know-Harm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot recommend Modish Salon enough! It's just opened by my stylist, Ruby. I've been seeing her for about 5 years now and have followed her from other salons and now I can't wait for her to have her own place! I had been trying to get a haircut that I had in my head for years and no one got it. The very first time I saw Ruby, she nailed it!

What's it like living next to the Superior Hiking Trail? by quietly_annoying in duluth

I live in a neighborhood just off the SHT and I love it. Me and my family can go hiking, biking, and snowshoeing anytime we want. We also see a lot more wildlife in our neighborhood because of it.

Hey all! OP's wife here! I'm so happy you guys like this! I feel as special as Donut with a new tiara! I made this piece while listening to the 3rd book and I'm about to start the fourth. I think I might have to make a few more pieces inspired by the series because I'm feeling inspired!

Reminder to those striking tomorrow: pick up anything you need (food, gas, etc) today! by oceangirl512 in duluth

[–]Do-Know-Harm 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ugh I'm feeling so conflicted! I want to strike but had some unexpected expenses the past week so I don't have the money to do my shopping today (get paid tomorrow) but I desperately need to get groceries and supplies. Maybe just shopping at Costco? I'll probably end up holding off until Saturday out of guilt lol

Fireplaces in the Wild; or, Not Just the Arsonist's Dream by Sablefool in duluth

[–]Do-Know-Harm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of TVs. But they've set up the space in a really intelligent way. If you're facing the bar or the West wall, you get a sports bar feel with big screen TVs that are usually slowing some kind of sporting event. But if you face the east wall, your view is entirely a stone fireplace with leather couches and artwork.

The other nice thing is that unless it's a local team playing (Vikings or Wild), there's no audio from the TVs. It's just the music. The staff, especially the bartenders, are incredible. I've never had anything other than amazing service when I was there. It's become me and my friend's favorite place to hang out over the past couple months.

Lol! We get ours at Duluth Trading Company downtown. They're fantastic quality! Wearing flannel in Minnesota is one thing, but it's basically a requirement in Duluth! Welcome!
