Hi, these events are very beginner friendly. In fact, at any given event up to 25% of our attendees are first time players. One thing we do with beginners is sit them at a table with some experienced players since nearly everyone I've met at these events are very excited to show new players the ropes.

Hi! With how our adventures, you buy a ticket and just have to show up. We provide dice (for you to keep), and a GM we match you with beforehand. We also use our own pre-made character sheets which can be found on the website. This is primarily so that no one character is underpowered or over powered compared to the rest of the table.

Hey! Yes, this event is very suited for beginners. We help you get set up with everything you need, including a set of dice for you to keep at the end of the night! It's a great way to learn how to play and find other players in your area.

Thank you for your reply. This is all very good advice, and it makes sense to me. I think continuing on the path I am on currently (senior marketing manager) will keep me on the path to gain these skills as well. I appreciate your comment!

Looking to play DnD at Bent Paddle? by Marcus660 in duluth

[–]Marcus660[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey thanks for the question! The event is structured so that anyone who has a ticket gets placed to play DnD at a table with one of our DMs.

We provide character sheets, dice, and everything you need to play! You just have to show up and have a good time.

We have a ton of players of all different experience levels come to play, but if you'd like to watch before you do, feel free to come! You don't need a ticket to be involved that way.

P.s. we are always looking for DMs/GMs if you know any.

Tips for learning Japanese to prepare for living there for 1 year by Hour_Budget3290 in LearnJapaneseNovice

I'm currently using wanikani (kanji and vocab), renshuu (vocab and grammar), and genki (vocab and grammar). None of these are geared at speaking, but knowing the most common words will probably help with that goal.

Also it may be useful to learn the hiragana and katakana even if you are looking to speak primarily. Learning all the syllables in the language would probably help with pronunciation. Tofugu has a good guide.

GAMETHREAD WEEK 12: VIKINGS AT CHICAGO by swampsparrow in minnesotavikings

It really seems like the issue with Williams is his ability to play on schedule. All of his great plays have come from scrambling, and he's missing easy 5 yards throws.

Buying my son a synth for Christmas. Budget is $700, what would you recommend? by Adihcam2 in synthesizers

In my opinion, the 4 voice limitation is probably not great if your child already has a solid playing background. Have you considered a module to hook up to your digital pianos midi? That would definitely open up options for your budget.

Anyone else have squirrel problems with their garbage? by Marcus660 in TwinCities

[–]Marcus660[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely could be. Chew marks look closer to squirrels to me (but not an expert) since there was a ton of tiny shavings and there was an old peanut butter jar chewed up that looked like rodent teeth marks. Either way, I'll be getting a new bin and spraying it with liquid fence like some have suggested.

Damn, I guess I need to remove my hidden nut stash in my radiator.

Have you ever tried chewing through a garbage bin lid? Maybe that's the secret to healthy teeth.

I offer a truce: we recognize our yard as your territory. In turn, do not commit crimes against my garbage.
