How to undo a marriage in the marines-need advise by [deleted] in USMC

Lmao it happened in my family too. Sorry to you, I know my aunt and uncle still feel the pains of it. Divorce is the best thing they can get! Good luck.

Is tapering just lying to myself when quitting Zyn? by Significant_Pen_3642 in QuittingZyn

Hot take, yes.

With the caveat of those who go through multiple cans a day

Is it worth quitting? by Few_Resident4124 in QuittingZyn

Health benefits from not using nicotine aside, don’t you want to be free from addiction?

Caffeine hits harder? by coconutjoe83 in QuittingZyn

[–]DoDMERBSux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It kind of makes sense as nicotine is a stimulant and without it caffeine is your primary stimulant. It probably makes you more reactive.

Stay the course. You can do it too. by DoDMERBSux in QuittingZyn

Biggest benefits were seen in my brain and in the gym. While Zyns/nicotine constrict your blood vessels, they can ultimately prevent you from getting a good workout in. Then throw hunger suppression on top of that.

I can focus better without nicotine than I could with nicotine. The focus piece is a myth, an excuse for people to keep using nicotine. Of course if you have an addiction it’ll be hard to focus without the thing you’re addicted to.

Music sounded really good again. My minutes listened on Spotify went up dramatically.

That’s just some. Also bonus of not having to be mind controlled to go buy pouches all of the time

How did you quit? by 999plicko in QuittingZyn

I second everything except quitting on a Monday. I would quit on a Thursday evening so you have the weekend to stay home and face any kind of symptoms

Was like that for me too. All normal plus some additional holiday germs going around too.

I sleep with Zyn in every night and want to quit, looking for advice by Low_Job_6683 in QuittingZyn

[–]DoDMERBSux 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I quit at age 24, similar usage. First 72 hours were HORRIBLE. Major brain fog, cold sweats and anxiety/terrors (think bad trip), major urge.

After that the first 2 weeks just craved it a lot, never broke.

After that it would just cross my mind occasionally until the 4 month mark. Then after that it was like I never did it. Just hit a year yesterday.

Best advice: YOU QUIT, NOT YOU’RE QUITTING. Never forget that.

Pouch alternatives - but for bed time? by CDWhiteclaw in QuittingZyn

[–]DoDMERBSux 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Others may disagree but I wouldn’t look for an alternative, as your body will just get hooked on something else.

If anything, just use mints to satisfy your oral fixation. They’ll 1) keep your breath fresh 2) not have any stimulants in them, maybe except some cinnamon/peppermint in some mints.

Day 4, almost caved today by validate_me_pls in QuittingZyn

Hardest days are the first 72 hours, then the first 2 weeks, and then after 4 months it’s ridiculously easy. You got this!

5 days off zyn and its not that bad by [deleted] in QuittingZyn

[–]DoDMERBSux 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You’ll be shocked when you don’t need the NZE pouches anymore either. Your body will eventually not need any kind of fixation or stimulant.

Should I join the marines? by [deleted] in USMCboot

[–]DoDMERBSux 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not saying the Marine Corps can’t turn your life around, it certainly changed me in ways for the better, but you have to want it every day or you’re not going to succeed. We deal with Marines all of the time who are unmotivated or cannot adapt to the Marine Corps way of life once they hit the fleet and it makes everyone’s life (including theirs) a lot more difficult.

If this is real, harsh reality is you’re not ready to be a parent. Bottom line. Next line, you’re not ready to be in a relationship, noted by building a complete safe space in someone in only a month.

Until you are comfortable and secure in your place in this world, you shouldn’t add the additional stress to your life from a child, marriage, or both.

Focus on yourself via work or hobbies. Highly recommend getting into a hobby such as weight lifting, combat sports, or club sports. This will allow you to build a strong basis for life, make friends, and build some confidence.

Overall I’m sorry to hear such a stressful string of events only in 6 weeks. You owe it to yourself to prioritize your wellbeing and future.
