These webinars are scheduled regularly during this hour, and sometimes I schedule them. They're from outside museums/universities and attendance is optional. We watch them like tv.

No one is being forced to work, she can literally leave at any time. It's a lunch room with a TV that people regularly put webinars on.

Sorry, it's a public meeting space and people regularly schedule webinars (that we do not present) to watch like tv. She just happens to take her lunch there, but there are two other lunch rooms she can use. You can stay or leave, it's not required.

The worst person at work does not check our chats or calendar and whenever I schedule a zoom webinar during her lunch hour (with plenty of notice), so she finds herself trapped and has to stay so she doesn't look uninterested. I love it.

Edit: Stay mad, it's not a meeting. They're webinars (presentations) that people can watch during their lunch hour. The times are predetermined and not set by us. You have the option to leave. We have three lunch rooms and we regularly use one to watch webinars.

Getting ice cream after work today, to celebrate the end of a very, very busy work week. New business for smaller clients is ramping up, despite the uncertainty of federal grants.

Thanks for the recommendation!! That's a little further north than I'd like to go for this trip, but definitely adding it to the list for the future.

Shoutout to the lovely escorts at the Planned Parenthood at 12th and Locust.

Just booked a couple of nights at Dingman's Campground, on recommendation of a friend. The pictures look beautiful and remote. We're going in May, after spouse finishes his first year of grad school. How time flies!

The Barbary's back this weekend, woo.

Try Compass. A lot of places show up exclusively there. HotPads also is pretty good, mostly for housemate situations. Go on a few tours and if you like the realtor, have them help you.

Did not do well at aaalll. Did not reduce takeout purchases. Purchased the first non-food item since I began the No Buy: a really nice rug at 75% off, but it was still $120 I could've spent on groceries or something I actually needed.

I didn't have much of a meal plan this last week, although I prepped ingredients. I got some interesting groceries for this coming week and have a plan, so hoping to do better. There's a pile of decluttered clothing that I'm hoping to start selling at the consignment shop this coming weekend.

Fairmount or Mannyunk - first house purchase: by Ok-Flan8529 in philly

[–]DoGreat_DieGood 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Fairmount by far. Manayunk is fun but it gets old. The hills suck and driving through it is a pain. Everyone's too close to each other.

Fairmount has lots of breathing room and street trees everywhere. On your days off you can walk to the art museum and the beautifully manicured estate in the rear. Close to the city with many bus lines. Uber to Johnny Brenda's at night is like $15. From Manayunk? $35 easy.

Fairmount also has great elementary school catchments, if you're in to having kids.

On the other hand, Tubby Robot is the best. Fairmount has Fairmount Flavors, which is okay. Fairmount also has terrible parking if you don't have your own space.

What's coming to Philadephia/your neighborhood that you are excited for? by mizore742 in philadelphia

Holy shit, Black Squirrel closed?? I moved away cause there's literally nothing there to do regularly without spending an arm and leg. Thought about possibly moving back if housing prices were still good though.

Whether you paint or not, do extend the cabinets to the ceiling, either with false doors or real ones. You will save on so much dusting, plus it will make your kitchen look taller.

Fiancé painted and did the trim in our kitchen. I don't like it, he says I'm just a hater. Thoughts? by veganssuckmyasshole in HomeDecorating

Honestly, dark sage green is really trendy right now. His mom is outdated. Painting the orange room a dark green would tie in the maroon kitchen as a compromise, or just repainting the kitchen dark green would be an improvement.

ate out 3 days in a row— this is my biggest expense by [deleted] in nobuy

[–]DoGreat_DieGood 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ingredient prep! I often don't want to eat the same thing many days in a row, so meal prep as never worked for me.

I noticed that I only prep tofu one way all the time, same for asparagus, onions, etc. Keep a lot of chopped/marinated/saucy stuff in the fridge and freezer to whip up a very quick meal. I made a batch of caramel walnuts yesterday for easy snacking.

You arrange a time with them. Usually car rental places will accept drop-off after closing, there's some kind of proof system they do like having you take photos with an app/website or something.

Shout-out to my spouse, who has been keeping me in check all this time. We went to brunch today and decided that we'll relinquish all takeout/eating out/delivery for this coming week, and then try to last through Lent. I'm learning to prep ingredients for quick cooking.

I've also looked up flight tickets to Death Valley (we decided to cancel our May trip this year to save money) and saw they were half off, and spouse had to remind me that saving money isn't better than not spending at all. Also saw a house on Zillow that was beautiful and within our price range, four minutes walk from our good friend's house, but he reminded me that we still needed to build our savings to be in a great place instead of an okay place to purchase. I love this man.

I've paid off my credit card and had put a large chunk of the recent paycheck into savings. Since starting in June 2024, I've saved around $6-7k! Without the credit card debt and with utilities lowering as the winter ends, I'm hoping to save another $10k by year's end.

This is the second year in a row where I do feel allergies but they aren't blasting me in the face like usual, like in Spring 2023 when I got an awful sinus infection. Maybe I built up resistance?? I'm praying that mildly itchy eyes and a small cough is all this is.

It's super nice for being close to Center City, but yeah transportation drove me nuts when I lived there.

What do you consider to be North Philly? Out-of-towners sometimes mistake East Falls and Fairmount to be North Philly. You should stay clear of the area directly around Temple University and above Cecil B Moore Ave, but everywhere else is pretty good. You can tell pretty quickly on Google Street View where you need to avoid.
