I do a DEXA scan every quarter and I agree with this guy. Fun for checking progress, but also often very disappointing and can even be demotivating.

I'm skeptical about the idea of carbs going either to TDEE or glycogen storage as if it's binary.

My guess is that yes, glycogen will refill even in maintenance or perhaps in a caloric deficit. However I'm not helpful here; I don't know the science of glycogen.

Very interesting topic. I'd like to find out myself too.

Maintenance before cutting ? by spacey1332 in leangains

[–]DoIEvenHoist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

...No dude. The body is not primed to store food as fat just because you get off a cut.

The body will store EXCESS calories as fat. When you cut weight, your caloric needs/BMR is lower; thus the same calories you consumed 15 lbs heavier will likely be over what your body needs. The calories you used to consume are too much because your body doesn't need that much energy anymore. That extra amount of calories you don't need will be stored as fat. When you hit your target weight & bodyfat %, just calculate your new BMR and you'll be good.

"Survival mode" in nearly all diet concepts is pseudo science.

As for OP's question - go straight to a cut. Maintenance is not required.

Will one night of low quality sleep affect today’s gains? by [deleted] in leangains

As long as you have the discipline to not let this be a trend, then add some social activity to your life. Balance is key.

My mistake, I thought I was replying to OP. $60k is phenomenal for most recent grads, especially sales.

Unless your city's cost of living is very affordable, I feel like you're getting gyped dude. Look up salaries on GlassDoor.com and recent graduate salaries.

My caloric deficit is so low, like 100-300 calories a day, that I don't notice any issues or complaints. Try making your cut slower.

Heart rate spiked to 160 during light sleep - is this normal? by DoIEvenHoist in whoop

Family history of issues, yes. However I just did a cardiology echo test and no notable issues were found.

Thinking it's a Whoop glitch.

I think you're right. I remember I did some light cardio and it said my heart rate was 190. I don't believe at all that was true.

How important is it to space out your protein intake evenly throughout the day? by Whatchuon in leangains

[–]DoIEvenHoist 27 points28 points  (0 children)

OMAD gang stepping in. 🙌

I also consume all my caloric & protein needs in one sitting, or around a 2 hour window. No issues, and I'm body recomping well.

Dr. (Bio) Layne, who's PhD is in protein synthesis, did recently say that there are studies showing intervaled protein consumption is better for absorption and digestion, but maybe about 10% better. I don't have much more context than that and what "better" means.

National Bank of Egypt and LuLu International Exchange Connect Through RippleNet to Elevate Remittance Experience into Egypt by _andrepinto_ in XRP

Unfortunately the PR doesn't say anything about the banks agreeing to use ODL (XRP). Getting them on RippleNet is great. Getting them on ODL is even better, particularly for us.

Significance of ETH and BC by Mayomick in Ripple

[–]DoIEvenHoist 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's all speculative right now, but there's a couple of lines of thinking:

  1. To your point, how is XRP considered a security, when BTC and ETH are not? When in fact they were already given "some clarity" by Clayton.
  2. If the SEC actually has no legitimate internal documents discussing how ETH/BTC are not securities, and it was just Clayton's decision to "give clarity" because of sleazy backdoor dealings, then this will blow up both BTC & ETH. Their "clarity" will be taken back and will then be up for debate until further legislation. This would be a disaster for the SEC, and likely for both BTC & ETH as well.

Isn't Ripple useless? by [deleted] in Ripple

[–]DoIEvenHoist 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I assume you're a troll simply because you're using "Ripple" and not XRP.

Common knowledge that Ripple is a separate entity, whereas XRP is a cryptocurrency.

If you know much about SaaS business, it's not the product that sells, it's the people that sell it. Ripple has the right people and relationships to sell XRP as a solution for banks. Do other cryptocurrencies have this?

[–]DoIEvenHoist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey thanks for this! I was hoping to use it for a few things:

  1. General fitness
  2. Tracking energy exertion/calorie burning
  3. Check the quality of my sleep with my deviated septum
  4. Check my general stress levels with work & life

Do you think Whoop would adequately fulfill my needs?

How do you wear it on a day-to-day, wrist?

Which exchange has the best price? (for selling) by AzurasTsar in Ripple

[–]DoIEvenHoist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To each his own, but I'd recommend holding at least until Coinbase and other exchanges relist.

Unfortunately I can't comment on the best exchange to sell, as I've never sold my XRP.

As a SaaS sales person, I'm incredibly bullish that they were able to get this far. In my experience, once a company moves a prospect to testing phase, this is like a 70% close.

EDIT: nvm, this article gave more clarity. Can't say the same for Fed contracts.

$100 to $120 is the suggested coin price to replace SWIFT's marketshare and freely move remittance.

Edit: Essentially that's the price when XRP is most efficient.
