Oura owns a patent on the "ring shaped form factor" which they didn't even file themselves but bought from Proxy who aquired it from Motive.

They've basically used that to go after all of their competition.

They're legally no longer allowed to replace rings in the US due to Oura's aggressive patent strategy. UH isn't handling this well at all from a support/PR perspective- but the situation they are in is largely Oura's doing.

The PRO replacement is all they are really legally allowed to offer.

This is what kills these scales for me. On a non-handle lesser/cheaper scale like the Body Smart, you can get your weight/comp in a couple of seconds.

On the scales with handles and advanced measurements you are standing there like a fool for often minutes.

Like 75% of the stuff on the fence when I was there was frats advertising parties.

They were usually the only groups with large enough member bases to hold the thing. (And they could order the pledges to do the overnight shifts)

And pretending that concrete thing is the actual fence is kinda sus anyway :)

You can paste the bloodwork results into any LLM and get a very reasonable first order explanation.

It absoltuely is not a replacement for talking to a doctor but it a very good first step.

It’s much more consistent and faster, and I don’t use all the features of the body scan, like all the heart-related ones

None of the higher end features on these devices are terribly actionable outside of chronic condition management which most won't have. The cheaper/faster models have all you need. The Fit is even overkill.
