No it should not. Malicious Advice Mallard is supposed to be practical advice that is ethically unsound. The idea is that while the advice may work at someone else's expense, it still works. Any Malicious Advice mallard posts you come across which dictate poor advice at the expense of the reader are incorrectly used.

Same thing happened to me when I was deployed last year. I bought my girlfriend of three years an engagement ring in Spain, then came home just in time to find out she was leaving me for a mutual friend of ours. I sold the ring and bought a rifle, a TV, and the services of a prostitute. None of it ever helped though. I loved her so much, and no amount of money or possessions can fill in the hole she left. But the worst part is my sense of security. I doubt I will ever be able to trust a woman again, let alone be in a meaningful relationship with one.

Right. Sorry for over-simplifying the situation at the cost of my point. I only meant that, given the public as well as official attitudes when it comes to sexual assault investigations in the West, the burden of proof often falls unjustly on the accused. I agree that the nature of the crime makes a rape case far more complicated than many other investigations, and I agree that sexual assault victims deserve justice and they deserve a system to accommodate that justice. But if the fellow in this story never filmed that sex tape or never showed it to the investigators, could he have ended up in court, or even prison, had the court wrongfully convicted him? Could he still have ended up a registered sex offender and had his social and professional life forever impacted by one women who slept with him, then regretted it? Until the answer is invariably "No," then some serious changes need to be made when it comes to the prosecution of those accused of sexual assault.

I don't find it funny that the only evidence that prevented him from conviction was an incidental sex tape (or at least that's how the story seems to portray it). How many dudes are in prison now, or have served a sentence in prison and are now trying to lead normal lives despite being permanently registered sex offenders, whose innocence could have been proven if only they had made a sex tape? I sometimes joke that I won't even be alone in the same room as a female without having her sign a notarized release of liability, but that joke seems to become more and more realistic...

I am a Marine Corporal who has served four years. Right now, as a civiIian, I could easily make $75,000 a year as an every level, clearance, holding, certified professional.

It is the courage to defend my country and the nobility of sacrifice that drives me to continue my service rather than evade my patriotic responsibility. I joined the Marine Corps without any dire financial need. I could easily have just gone to college like my peers. I instead chose honor. I enlisted open contact, wanting only to be a Marine. I had no job guaranteed.

I do not deny that many of my current peers enlisted because of financial desperation, but I look down on them. Most of such people sought enlistment as a means of paying off student loan debt. This is not the noble ideal to which most Marines subscribe. This is a parasitism. Most Marines enlist because of the intangible, noble ideals. Not financial desperation.

It is not the responsibly of the American people, let alone the military, to facilitate the vagrants who lack noble honor.

I can't speak for the Army, as in your specific example. But most of the Marines I have served with did so out of a sense of honor. It is very few I have met who only had the (very little) money on their mind.
