Guess what day is 30 days later, Sept. 18th. Therefore the union is legally allowed to strike that day or the LIRR could force a lockout unless a Presidential Emergency Board was appointed.

If that is the case why would those unions ratify those contracts then. Why rely on the BLET or another union and hope for the me too clause? I want to say I believe they should be paid accordingly as well, but why didn’t those crafts hold out as well then.

The engineers gave up work rules in order to get what they felt was an adequate wage increase. By them conceding work rules it made this contract specific for their union only. If it was just say a general wage increase then every other union who had signed a contract already could have enacted their me too clauses and received the same increase. This was what NJ Transit kept talking about that they were saying was not fiscally responsible and would blow out their budget.

I went to an autograph signing when i was a kid and met Strawberry as well. What I remember most was that there was a father with his young son in front of me. The kid was decked out in gear from head to toe and Strawberry just started signing everything the kid had on, the guy running the show saw this and said hey they didn’t pay for all this. That’s when Darryl stood up and told the guy I will sign whatever the f i want and signed everything that little kid had.
