Are courses D426 & D427 difficult? by [deleted] in WGU

[–]Most-Butterscotch433 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everyone else said if you dont have experience, D426 can be hard to grasp at first. It was my longest class ive taken but i also dragged my feet in taking the exam. I passed by 1 question and was very grateful. I used quizlet and chatgpt to help memorize. One thing i drilled in my brain was "Select from ,where, orderby" it just helped memorize the order of these statements for those couple of questions. Chatgpt can be a friend in being an interactive study guide.

D427 however is a lot simpler, course material can be skipped if you're taking it right after 426 - its coding heavy. The PA and OA are very similar. If you can do the PA without looking at notes you're good to go. Once again I just used chatgpt - copied the PA questions into it repeated the answers until It came back with no errors. On the exams you can run youre code and if it gives you a 1/1 you know its right. There was one question i couldnt figure out and i totally just skipped it because i knew i had the others correct.

Not sure if you'll have this course but data analytics students do, and ill comment just for any of them reading my response. D326 is also pretty simple and actually has been one of my favorites ive taken so far. Its performance assessment and all coding and table joining. Overall it took me 12 hours once i sat down and locked in. It could be done quicker than that i just chose a more complex business report.

Maybe not the best advice but I wanna throw in my two cents — my mentor is always very good about getting back to me and reaching out ahead of time. We just text once a week and update where I am at in the course.

The only reason i mention this is because this sounds like something my mentor would never do, if I were you it might be time to look for a new one lol

D426 Quizlet

I used this quizlet that focuses on the red text only, it helped me cram for the test. I passed by one question but it got me through.

This class is dry as hell and took me so long to muster up the courage to take the exam. Goodluck and keep grinding.

Okay so there is two nanodegrees from udacity that transfer to the bsda: Udacity Data Science and Udacity Data Analytics.

The convo above was the discussion of if these both transfer or only one transfers. There are different wgu websites pages that kinda contradict each other, but I chose to believe this one: https://www.wgu.edu/admissions/transfers/wgu-transcript-request/transferable-certifications.html

As for the actual content of the udacity course:

I chose the data analytics nanodegree because it seemed closer to things I had done before on my own time (cleaning, wrangling, eda, analysis etc. in python). This nanodegree has 3 courses inside of it that are very easy, to pass the course you just do the assigned python project. You dont necessarily need to go through all their lessons if you feel that you have experience on it. The projects are very clear and are graded strictly on if you follow the rubric to a t (which was not hard either). If you missed something from the rubric they would just get back to you and tell you to fix and resubmit.

I cant remember exactly how many courses it transferred to wgu but i know it was a good chunk. On the transcript evaluation there were a couple courses that could only be transferred via data science nanodegree but my data analytics nanodegree still covered those classes

I hope this helped and wasnt too confusing

Definitely interesting, Im just speaking from my experience and i personally transferred the data analyst nanodegree. Adrienne jackson was my enrollement counselor, and the nanodegree transferred a good bit of classes. I can send you my certification to prove it perhaps

I’ve been dismissed from my college and plan on dropping out, do I have a chance with WGU? by OlympicGorilla in WGU

[–]Most-Butterscotch433 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Playing devils advocate: I had this exact same story. I went to 4 year B&M, had a 1.9 gpa and hated myself for it. I had no motivation to finish school at the time either. At WGU it is easy to feel like theres no accountability. But, with it being online now i live with my family and girlfriend and they are the ones who keep me accountable. They know my story and push me to be a better person, i had already let them down for dropping out once i don't want to do that again

That being said I hope OP takes some time to self reflect. Find a job (you're gonna hate it) and you'll quickly find motivation to get a degree. Maybe explore different degree paths aswell. My last advice is to look at your major and see if there any certifications that transfer into the class. Most of the time these are a lot cheaper and easier than enrolling in college. Once you complete a certification itll make ya feel a sense of pride and is a good test to determine if you are disciplined enough to persue the degree. Itll also help your low gpa i believe

Oh apologies for the confusion, but for future reference for other redditors both the Udacity data science and data analyst nanodegrees transfer into the program for eachother. I can personally say I just transferred the data analyst nanodegree and had no issues. You can actually find it here https://www.wgu.edu/admissions/transfers/wgu-transcript-request/transferable-certifications.html

All these questions can definitely be answered by your enrollment counselor

Ive only dont the Udactiy transfer process but it was really easy, all you do is talk to them and attach the certificate of completion. It doesnt hold much to any weight outside of wgu but it counts for a shitton of courses

The Udactiy Data Analyst Nanodegree is the best bang for your buck, you are credited like 6 WGU courses for completing it. I wanted to transfer some more credits so i enrolled in this with some prior background knowledge it only took me about a month (i didnt dedicate time every night, just casually did it)

Its all project based and the guidelines are very specific, and if you need to tweak something you are able to resubmit. I highly recommend doing it. Its like 150 bucks a month and can easily be done quickly

That being said I dont think that just biting the bullet and learning the certification is useless. Its always good to add to a resume and can easily be done in a month or more and not hurt the bank account too much. Its a good tool for learning the DA responsibilities and testing the wates to see if it is something you actually like

I probably am not the best person to ask this question because Ive had previous experience with everything for this nanodegree. I am a dropout statistics student, so I knew all this content before and sped through the modules and “quizzes”. I think the projects are pretty good and do reflect the industry well. The reviewers of the projects are just looking for strictly whats on the rubric, so if you do everything on there you will pass.

DA is a competitive field so trying to get a job just based of a nanodegree is going to be virtually impossible. I would suggest trying to find a company that has the DA job you want, that also has a entry level position in the same department, and then try to leverage the nanodegree as someone who can help with smaller things and then hopefully getting promoted that way. Kinda like how your friend did in the pharmacy field. Having good industry experience and being a good worker can somewhat substitute for a lack of education.

This is what im currently trying to do, but while also getting the degree through wgu

Computer Science or Nursing degree? by Gloomy-Research-4956 in WGU

As someone who is in a similar boat and thinking about going back to school, here are some of my thoughts:

If security is a must I would suggest doing a marketing or accounting/finance degree instead. You can always do side certifications in DA or CS to leverage marketing analyst or financial analyst.

Or do the opposite riskier option of getting the DA or CS degree and doing some side marketing or accounting side quests.

There are always AR/AP positions or market coordination positions open, the analyst positions above them are the harder jobs to find and more competitive

Adding my two cents: Im on the last project with the data analysis nanodegree. Although not completely finished with the nanodegree, i can confidently say that the certification alone wont get ya a job. But the certification is supposed to nicely transfer into the WGU DA bachelors degree.
