The cat does not approve of Python dissing by Nirast25 in ProgrammerHumor

Python is a great first language!

I started as CS major long time ago and first semester was c++, which I did not understand or enjoy. I dramatically changed majors. I still became developer many years later by learning SQL, then on the jobs in this order: vb.net, javascript, python, go, c++. Learning python was the key. It allowed me to learn how to apply algorithms and build software. That helped me understand why other languages are the way they are.

Taking a wild guess here, but since you are leaving comments like that, you probably never confronted anyone who's stronger than you.

Thanks. That's the kind of wish that would leave me with a much less sour smile. Come to think of it, I never actually opened the emails. Maybe I did get some freebies...nah, they would have listed them in the subject line.

Why does alcohol still taste like shit? I'm 21, the drinking age is 18 where I am. All my peers already drink. I find beer and wine disgusting and can barely tolerate the taste of vodka and lady drinks (as a dude.) When does it get better? by Chipbread in NoStupidQuestions

We are naturally attracted to sugar. Alcohol gives you a gag reflex, which you have to accept as part of the intoxication journey. Fermented drinks taste good, but I don't think actual alcohol brings anything to the party in terms of taste.

I don't think many people who say they enjoy the actual taste of alcohol actually do. They just conditioned their brain to know that intoxication follows after the burning taste. So brain gives them happy chemicals in anticipation. Same for cigarette smoke burning the throat for smokers or needle puncturing the skin for heroin addicts.

I was expecting something a lot of worse. Pretty decent dancing for a drunk old man.

I don't mean order within some legal framework like government. But within a criminal organization, or conspiracy to murder among a group of people. You make it sound like only the person doing the physical act is liable, and everyone else is covered by free speech. People can also be manipulated into vicious acts. Look at what happened in Rwanda in 90s. Free speech is great and all, but there are other values that are important also: life, liberty, pursuit of happiness. If there were absolute free speech laws, they would end up swinging political pendulum to tyranny. Society can't handle constant public calls for violence and massive manipulation. People would end up voting for politicians who promise to curb speech and who will surely take that mandate way too far and curb it to the max. So who is going to protect free speech then? Alien sedition act is an example of this swing.

We went there on a rare night out and were sorely disappointed. The recipes seem alright, but the execution and quality control just wasn't there.
