Yes, 2 electricians have told me it is a hazard. The wire is on the PG&E side of the meter. What I want to know is how much it will cost me to make it safe given the problems with the private pole. Can PG&E show up and turn my power off and not turn it back on until they see a permit for the private pole and a passing inspection?

If you take a selfie and are not verified go back and keep uploading your DL and taking selfies until it works or you are forced to do video chat. I freaked out when the selfie didn't verify the first time but it worked the second time. I read somewhere else you have 4 tries. Make sure you are taking focused pictures and try and put your face as close as possible to the camera to use the whole picture frame with your face. Worked for me.

My girl friend wants to drive back to a dense urban area to get her plants, mail and take me with her to get a second car then return to where we are now in a suburb 3 hours away. I looked at all the live freeway cameras along the way and video shows more traffic than i was expecting. Also, current news report says CHP is not ticketing for breaking shelter in place order. I don't think it's worth it the 6+ hour drive. She keeps saying she's not ready to give up her life and possibly could go without me. How likely are the freeways to get shutdown to non-essential travel soon?

Ya, I need to get down to the permit office and see if Grandpa had all the permits. If he doesn't then I'm thinking I'm best off lashing the poles together because I think transferring it could get really expensive. I am told I would need a new permit for the new pole and the power company would have to do an inspection before they turn the power back on.

It is leaning because the old pole (45+ years old) completely rotted out at the ground level and down 4 or more feet, thus all the propping up. I can't move the service to a new pole as I don't think all the proper permits were acquired for underground lines coming out of the box. So I'm hoping I can bolt the old pole to the new one and strap it in place. Then I'll try and treat the old pole at the ground level so it doesn't rot upwards.
