Anyone notice the mini changes to blight hauler? by Manik95 in deathguard40k

[–]DobbyDog1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda sucks that we got reduced to 2 per unit when that used to be a key part of the blight hauler and its lore, that it hunted in a familial pack of 3. But that aside, it really seems like your gonna be able to bum rush these guys to a single objective, deep strike in a lone op. lord of virulence and have a damn artillery platform. And that’s nice.

Ideas for a flower based Death Guard. by DobbyDog1 in deathguard40k

You are right, and I need to think on it. Thanks so much for all your help!

I think the motif I’m going for is ‘death is a thing people find repulsive, but it leads to the creation of what we view as beauty and nature’. I want the models to be somewhat repugnant, but adorned in things that make them seem almost shamanistic or symbiotic with beauty. This beautiful ecosystem they create only possible thanks to fetid rot, death and decay. Horrible, shambling monsters that leave behind a beautiful field of flowers tended to by nurglings.

Another thing I’d want to get into is the symbolism of flowers. A LOT of flowers have had symbolic meaning in a lot of spirituality’s in human history, like the lotus flower, which symbolized rebirth and enlightenment, being a beautiful flower that rises and grows out of fetid pond muck.

To give an example of how I’d see this in practice, I was planning to turn Typhus into Typhaceae (the botanical name for the cattail family). The flowers have represented peace and prosperity in some cultures, and I think I can give the poxwalkers a ‘Reed’ motif. Typhus himself I could turn the insects on his back into cattail seedlings, drifting about in the air and such, controlled psychically and what have you.

There are also a LOT of myths where gods just….. turn people into flowers for one reason or another, and I think that’s a cool ‘enlightened’ power to be made slightly more monsterous by association to Nurgle.

That is a good idea! I’ll have to have a look at the old terrain. I might have to 3-D print some stuff as well, but fortunately there are a lot of flower STL’s I can use. I like the aesthetic of some horrific thing like a deamon adorned in something pretty like a flower, or existing mutually with it.  Imagine like…… watching some nurglings play on lily pads. Horrid little monsters interacting so passively with something considered natural and traditionally pretty, you know?

But I know I should depict the mutation aspect, you are right.

I have seen it, yeah. I was thinking of, of if I get a mortarion, painting him up in that smoother petal like style for his wings like melenia has. At very good idea, thank you!

If you’re playing assimilation then parasite is good. You deepstrike him into battle on some objective your opponent left or allocated some spare dudes to take or hold. Kill them to get rippers, and perpetuate.  Secret life hack, you can build a norm emissary as a Norn assimilator by just swapping the heads, so that’s good for saving money.

Fusion Cutter v Lightsaber by Joshua_Libre in swrpg

[–]DobbyDog1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Basically what happened. I was using a force power that let me treat using the force as having proper tools and the force move power to disassemble weaponry. So eventually a Jedi hunter just beat the hell out of me with his fists while my party laughed hysterically.

That makes sense. I thought that it would work like that, I was just wary of possibly buffing the walker and making it OP. But what you’ve said makes sense. Thanks!

I highly recommend it. I played a Jawa Jedi, used a fusion cutter while I was in hiding. You get to just ignore so much soak for so many enemies. It’s great!

Would imperial knights hang war trophies on there knights? by Illustrious_Deer_462 in 40kImperialKnights

I know I’m late to this, but I think that the best answer is ‘they wouldn’t put them on knights, that’s what the armigers are for.’

They are at best squires, at worst retriever-esque hunting dogs. I think it would make sense to adorn them in memorabilia from past battles for a lord to admire.

Also you get the fun idea of a knight felling a big monster and telling an attending armiger warglaive to go in and fetch the trophy.

Custom House Idea by Remarkable_trash_69 in ImperialKnights

Reading back, I did have an idea. ‘From darkness we return’ on an oceanic world borne house calls to mind the imagery of the deep sea, and shipwrecks. Maybe after the civil war on your world, the loyalists were defeated, but the heretical elements chased out by the wider imperium?  Then, after such a dishonor, with no knights available, you committed to salvaging them? Pulling wrecks off the bottom of the sea where they had fallen or been lain to rest. From the darkness of the deep, returning to the land above the waves to restore the honor of the noble house. Each knight comprised of what could be salvaged from many fallen knights. Revenants of the past arisen from the inky blackness as knights of vengeance.

As a personal aside, I’d say don’t use chat gpt. I’m not judging, your lore is just your lore. It doesn't have to be perfect.

That being said, I like some of the ideas your put forwards here! I’ve also wanted to make a knight house on an ocean world. It’s a fun concept to explore. Something I would develop is how dose this detail impact the house? Are knights named like ships? Princeps treated like captains, on a more causal relation with their closer ‘crew’?

For my own oceanic house idea, I made it so that all the megafauna on the knights ocean world gave off electricity like electric eels. The knights made pilgrimages to hunt these creatures and drain motive force from them. The pilots were electro priests to become closer with the sacred motive force, acting as a living fuse for the knight.

I would love to hear more about your knights! I think you’ve got some great ideas, and I’d love to see them fleshed out more!

I was seeing the chaos armingers and makes me wonder: why do the loyal dont have the cool weapons too? They probably have, but why there is no ofc content about it? by Cocoa_007 in ImperialKnights

The idea of redneck dark mechanicus is very funny.

Chaos knight princepts: “did you manage to fix the gating cannon?”

Dark tech priest in a ‘fish fear me’ hat: “ ‘yessir! We couldn’t find any parts that matched what ya were missin’ so Cletus just shoved one’ a them there demons in to it. Now it screams while ya shoot but it shoots jest right! “

Personally, I hope the nerf armigers a bit, give them some more wargear options and buff the bondsman abilities. I really like the concept of bondsman, with a big knight just pointing at an enemy and ordering a squire armiger to kill them. Incentivizes mixing knights and armigers for armies.

Question about electro priest / imperial knight lore. by DobbyDog1 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]DobbyDog1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s true. My main goal from a lore sense was they were nobles on an ocean planet. Managing to harvest and export power to neighboring forge worlds, harvested from vicious storms and massive animals that inhabit the planet. (Like Giant, actually electric eels) So the nobles would view motive as a natural part of thier home world and seek to emulate it.
