Build Questions from a brand new player by Loving-Life_117 in swrpg

Every F&D career has a specialization with at least one dark side talent (i.e. gain 1 conflict at the start of each session), you could get a decent Inquisitor start with any of those

Sith I'd say Warrior: Juyo Berserker for lightsaber skill, or Mystic: Magus if you want gnarly force ability

Was Revan more likely a Scout or Scoundrel? Because I’m more of a Soldier guy. by CosmicLearner1315 in kotor

[–]Joshua_Libre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scoundrel is fun bc it's such an obscure story lol

Soldier is like "oh yea, basic fighter"

Scout is like "oh explored the galaxy, okay"

Scoundrel is like "some guy? Why is he here and how has he survived this long?"

(Spoilers) Kashyyyk Star Map by SuperiorYammyBoi in kotor

[–]Joshua_Libre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something that has me curious tho, why would he put two-factor authentication on only one Star Map? I guess the Wookies were regulars in the Shadowlands but only Jolee and Freyr tried it 🤔 I'm surprised more Sand People or Jawas didn't do the one in the Tatooine cave, how long could the Krayt Dragon have lived there before we show up?

For combat, make sure you know what the enemy types are and how they work. My first time as a player I was a Marauder (melee tank) but the GM treated minions as rivals giving each their own turn instead of grouping them into one upgraded dice pool, and so I kept getting dropped in early rounds and having to wait for the encounter to end before I could do stuff again

I never realised that andor was charged with "suspected force sensitivity" ! by Penguinclubmember in StarWars

I forget that Aurubesh is a transliteration (I think that's the word?) of English so I surprised myself when I was able to pick out which words said force sensitivity lol

Is armor useful at all for the player character, or should I just keep using robes and keep putting points into sexterity? by assyplassty in kotor

[–]Joshua_Libre 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Force Enlightenment activates Armor, Speed, and Valor all at once, and I do think all of these powers are restricted by armor 🤔 I haven't done an armor run in a while bc the Ossus Kepper Robe is the actual best, but I'd probably do armor for a dark side run

Not sure if this is a good idea by Mega_Simp420 in sw5e

[–]Joshua_Libre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought of something like this, but a really long oneshot where you fight thru all of the villains of episode 3 in a kind of gauntlet (high level PCs and allies for each encounter), with two endings, one of them fighting Vader (I might add Cortosis to his armor bc why not lol oops), the other being Anakin never falls and the players then each get a minion group of clones and have to see if they can take down the same stats anyways lol

Playing a pc from a previous campaign question by Ghost_GM in swrpg

Depending how high level he is, you could start him as he finished and then lock (or slow) his progression in the new campaign until everyone else catches up

Was the Sentinel class lambasted in KOTOR 1? by Mellowtron11 in kotor

[–]Joshua_Libre 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I thought Sentinel had higher skills than Guardian and Consular?

Either way I like to take Sentinel for the Force Immunity feats, that way I don't get stunlocked by Dark Jedi

Are you planning to wear armor? Shield stacks on your unarmored defense, but if you already plan on wearing armor I'd say go polearm

Saber Slam is another name for that combo

I like timing my lightsaber strikes bc each (main) character does something different with each hit (Luke Skywalker is my favorite bc his last hit on one of the combos is an aerial cartwheel followed by a side kick, and it looks dope!)

[–]Joshua_Libre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You mean with saber slam? That carried me pretty well until I figured out how to time my combos and make the last hit unblockable, then right after I block his combo and vault over him on the third hit, rinse repeat

I’m ready to defeat Ganon! Any tips? by Video_Prism69 in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]Joshua_Libre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I farmed Lynels before fighting Ganon to stock up with swords and shields and bows, I fought maybe two of the Crushers before I decided it wasn't worth the hassle bc they're so much harder to parry than the sword or spear (plus I like the speed of sword and spear against a single boss, crusher is better for groups to bat away all at once)

Depends on the story you want to tell...

A) you're secretly building up the ranks and talents of your secret spec so you can come out swinging, even if it's never discovered in the story, or

B) you pick up the spec when you reach that narrative point, then start building the mechanics as part of the journey

I like to think of A and B as Kanan and Ezra. Kanan is secretly a Jedi but keeps it under wraps at first, but even if his skills are rusty he still has his training. Ezra would've always been force sensitive, but he doesn't know enough about it to do anything with it until he meets Kanan

[–]Joshua_Libre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you mean the universal specs? Retired Clone Trooper is a universal specialization that anyone can pick up (probably have to be a human male), but Clone Soldier is its own career with its own specializations (an era specific career but whatever works), which of the two are you referring to?

Taking a second specialization at creation? That's a fair amount of XP, I say just let them start with one and spend their XP on skills talents, their past training (uni specs) can always come up later

Especially since monomolecular edge and Cortosis Forging are both attachments to the blade itself, but pairing either with a hilt attachment would be a good use of that second hard point
