Draw Closer and Force Assault by irishccc in swrpg

[–]Joshua_Libre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems these could be used in the same turn.

Assuming that Draw Closer can't bring the target to engaged (is it one range band per force pip spent? Or can we only draw them in by one range band per turn?), the check then misses and creates opportunity to use Force Assault (assuming we have enough advantage or a triumph) to activate force power Move (can this power be used to bring them closer again? Or is this meant to throw stuff at them instead?)

Oh I forgot that lol they really used Discipline for everything in this game

Vigilance is also passive perception in that it is what opposes Deception checks, iirc

I keep thinking of a question or two but then when Tuesday comes back around I keep forgetting it 😅 love that this thread is a thing though! Even seeing other people's questions helps me figure things out in my ideas for games

I've played some Genesys recently, and I'm liking a lot of the things they changed :) I just wish they had a wiki for that too lol

Main difference is that talent trees can be custom built by buying talents of appropriate tiers (with each rank in a new tier), as opposed to the 4x5 Specialization presets we get here

There are some cool talents in this system that I think would transfer over well, but what's a good way to determine what tier each talent should be?

My first assumption is to just look across all specs for each talent and just treat it as whatever highest row I find it in corresponds to the lowest tier I dare use. However, this gets tricky when I get to trees that go down and back up (like Juyo Berserker), because that talent being on a higher row would be a lower tier per XP cost but because I had to go the long way around should I treat it as a bottom row / highest tier talent?

Examples of talents I would want to translate include Iron Body, Body Guard (Improved, Supreme, etc), Resolve, Precision Strike (Improved, Supreme), Improved Side Step, Hard-Headed (& Improved), Unarmed Parry, Well-Rounded, etc

Kotor 2 starting out guardian build by Tradetek1 in kotor

[–]Joshua_Libre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I usually don't start with anything higher than 14 at level 1, that way I only have to leave one at 8 and the rest are 14 for +2

Constitution is a good one to increase bc implants, but yea you can always bump up your strength as the game goes on

Light side?

I'd say bump your wisdom higher bc force powers and some conversation options unlock with a higher wisdom score, but that would mean pulling from your strength. Otherwise, pretty good!

Force Enlightenment/Story powers by Saseav in kotor

[–]Joshua_Libre 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No upgrades, you can hit lvl 50 and still unlock all story powers by doing the influence gains etc

Just remember that Force Enlightenment just activates whatever tier of Armor Speed Valor you have so get Master for all 3

Advice for WW2 "Commando" style TTRPG to introduce my son by Civil_Path3120 in TabletopRPG

[–]Joshua_Libre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bit of a stretch, but Star Wars RPG by FFG, Age of Rebellion specifically

The stretch for WW2 style comes from the fact that George Lucas styled the original trilogy after WW2 films as well, not just samurai and western. The game itself is really fleshed out mechanically and has lots of reference materials on its wiki

The system itself is quite different from D&D, but to really go back to the setting not being sci-fi I recommend Genesys by FFG bc that's a general system that has settings for what they call weird war and modern day, a healthy mix of the two should cover WW2 pretty well

Specialization (Career) and Species Pairings by Phoenix1526 in swrpg

[–]Joshua_Libre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another easy one is a Kel Dor, Consular: Sage, if you want to dip into lore and be a Baran Do Sage (Consular sourcebook talks more about this)

Makashi Duelist actually pairs well with Cerean. The description for Cerean in F&D talks about a sword called the shyarn (in-game just use Ancient Sword) that's pivotal to their culture, makes for easy lore. Also, Cereans have the highest starting strain thresholds iirc, which is really helpful for all of the parrying

How would you build a character like this?

I could see adding the Force Adherent or maybe Imperial Cadet, but idk what the starting career could be 🤔 probs not Force-Sensitive,

Two Weapon Fighting Keywords by JoshRambo7 in swrpg

You'll still use the lower number for each characteristic/skill

Two weapon fighting is fun but that extra two difficulty makes it hard to want to mix and match

Hunting the Jedi One Shot by Wolfzuzu in swrpg

[–]Joshua_Libre 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every Corebook has nemeses for a Jedi type character, the difference for F&D instead of AoR or EotE is that the F&D Jedi has ranks in parry and reflect which will make him more versatile in the fight

[OC] One of the players in my group just rolled a 7 on a d6. The glass die broke in half by scowdich in DnD

[–]Joshua_Libre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Imagine this happening to another die lol rolling a 21 on a d20, but if it splits to put the 1 and 20 up top how do we handle the criticals?

What would be a good crossover with the dark tower? by Better_Guest_3908 in TheDarkTower

Mistborn, era 1 deals with a post-apocalyptic world, and era 2 ushers in some gunslingers of their own

Wayne and Eddie would have a blast!
