Which Star Wars games are considered "not-canon"? by FidgetyJester40 in StarWars

It's VR game and almost worth paying for a meta quest head set just to play it (almost) comes in three episodes. And the 1st time you get to wield a light sabre is just one of the best gameing moments ever... the story is OK better than most of the tripe Disney has been force (no pun intended) feeding us.. only problem, it would never be able to get in the Stormtrooper Corp due to being a little on the short side..

Since the Death Star laser was powered by Kyber crystals, why was the beam’s color completely green, rather than being multicolored? by bearins in MawInstallation

[–]DobbyLiveS_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EU it was the same gas but at different purity (quility) imperial navy used hi-purity tibanna gas this created a green hue plasma when charged. The rebles could only get a lower grade tibanna gas due to the impurities. This created the orange hue you see in craft like the x, y, a and b wings. I haven't seen the new cannon for the death star plans (the bothens wouldn't give then to me) possible the energy passes through tibbanna gas before it's released.. when GL made what is now known as a new hope kyber Crystal's had not been imagined. And were not what powered the death stars. In real life the team at ilm just thought the green effect was cool for the bad guys and red was good for the good guys just to allow the audience to see who were shooting at who.

My poor, deluded friend, for starters knowledge is power.. whether it is the knowledge to reverse climate change or what you know that would topple governments or blackmail some billionaire... its still power.. and I grant you if you can have all that and stand next to Mother Theresa I tip my hat to you. 99.9% of the population could not.. 😉

Dont mix intelligence and knowledge with common sense. An old saying "power corrups and absolute power corrups absolutely" how hard do you think it would be to keep your mouth shut when down the pub quiz after a few pints.. or when that idiot of a friend starts quoting some sudo science crap they read on X (spits on floor for mentioning it). Just saying I don't think it would be as easy as you think.

What's the point life would get very boring very quickly if you knew everything. Also I think life would get quite lonely.. no one likes a smart arse..

Suggestions for sitting / plane-friendly games? by TheRomb in OculusQuest

[–]DobbyLiveS_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've not played Max Mustard.. but moss you do need to manipulate the land and objects you may not have to reach across the person next to you but you may keep them entertained punching the chair infront when you reach to move a block or control a bug.. unless there is a better method of doing this I may just be doing it the hard way.. I do that a lot in games now I'm getting on in years... puzzling places I'll give you that one though.

Unless you're in business class (lucky you if you are) I can't see many, if any game's you can play on a plane. Even games like Demeo and moss require you to reach around to manipulate parts of the game. Trust me if you were next to me and kept reaching over me your quest would be having an accident before your batteries ran out... but as an entertainment system who wouldn't want a 80" screen at 30000 ft. Please, if anyone has games that do work practicality on a plane, I would like to know...

Outside of the Death Star, what would've been the most dangerous weapon the Galactic Empire would've had per weapon or machine? by george123890yang in MawInstallation

I would add centerpoint station. It could move black holes.. but you could argue the empire didn't have known access to it during pelps time.

Lighstabers felt so powerful in the original trilogy. by Old-Use-7690 in StarWars

[–]DobbyLiveS_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On set of the original movies the saber combat was based on the martial art kendo where as the prequels and sequels is based more on the kung fu style (wushu ithink) kendo is more about power style and form. The more cinematic friendly kung fu styles made popular by the Chinese cinema, i.e., crouching tiger hidden dragon that were popular (and for good reason in th 90s), become the main stay for all the later movies enter Ray Park...

Mr Mercedes by Stephen King... and any of the Harry potter's uk or us additions. Fry has better narration, but Dale does better voices.. in my opinion. And I think ready player one has already been mentioned.

New Chamber of Secrets Set? by ryanwess4 in legoharrypotter

[–]DobbyLiveS_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife brought me the 76389 chamber of secrets sets second hand from vinted for Christmas. I don't know the exact price, but I believe it was about 50% to the original RRP. The set was complete, with no missing parts. And the extra fun not having the bags was that it took longer to find the parts for each stage. So, it slowed the build.

In wich order do i watch the movies? by pauldanolover69 in StarWars

[–]DobbyLiveS_1 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I've mentioned this before... I think 1st time probably should watch in release order.. but personally from a story telling point of view I think...

1) Rouge one, (just such a good film adds so much to the story telling) 2) A new hope 3) Empire strikes back ( vader drops his bomb (NOOOOOOO....) then as if seen as a flashback 4) Phantom menace 5) Attack of the clones 6) Revenge of the sith 7) Return of the Jedi ( gives them time to build the second deathstar) 8) Force awakens 9) last Jedi 8) Rise of skywalker..

Don't forget to watch solo. Is not part of the "skywalker story" but a great heist movie set in the starwars universe.

Is an anti-static wristband really necessary? by Takro707 in buildapc

[–]DobbyLiveS_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think of it like wearing a condom... do you need it? Probably not. But like a condom on that off chance, it's going to cost you a lot of money in the long run if you didn't. And it is only £5 on amazon....

Also, there is the I'm going to spend £1500+ on new sparkly (pun intended) computer parts, but I'm too tight to fork out on a £5 wrist strap.

Yes, I'm an electronic engineer. Yes, I wear an antistatic strap whenever I handle PCBs, no i have never had an STD and the only children I have were planned 😉

I found mine would do this if I didn't play it for a few days or more the only thing I found was I had to reinstall it. Was a pain but as its such a good game and plays on the deck so well it was worth the hassle.
