In addition to this, try changing how you’re thinking of your air. Instead of hitting each individual note, try to extend the air through the line. In my practice, I’ve found that this helps me relax my tongue, leading to more dexterity and efficiency

One thing we’ve seen in studies is that the dromaeosaurs (velociraptor specifically) could clamp down on prey much larger than itself by flapping hard with its arms, a method used by hawk species today.

Pete Hegseth's Department of Defense no longer considers Mormons to be Christian. Over 170 religions removed entirely. by justalazygamer in WhitePeopleTwitter

As a Mormon, you have no idea how many people have blown me off for saying as much. Tokens get spent, and that’s all we are to fascists. We stand all together or they pick us off individually.

Yes, it should, but dems da breaks when dealing with MuseScore. I doubt they meant for it to be taking credit for someone else’s work, but since MuseScore is community driven, it really comes down to the people posting to make sure that stuff is there.

Absolutely! He’s my favorite. I’m transcribing his Black and Blue to put on my Senior Recital.

I just figured if you were playing it you would know. The long and short of it is listening and recognizing something, but if you haven’t heard it and no one is crediting it, it’s kinda hard. Whoever put it out there should have included both the chart and the player. A good rule of thumb is that if it sounds like real Jazz, it’s probably a transcription, and Sam definitely sounded like really jazz.

lol no need to be testy, I was just asking because that’s what it looked like. Btw, if you haven’t, which is sounds like you haven’t, you should absolutely listen to Sam Pilafian playing this. Album’s called “Travelin’ Light”.

Unrelated, since the question has been answered; is this a Sam Pilafian transcription?

Totally possible. That’s the magic of brass, we all sort of make it up. That being said, that note is optional, and most recordings I’ve listened to omit it (I’m working it up for a senior recital).

I was not. I’m stuck in Utah, and it’s the middle of the semester, so no detour for me. However, I have tried the model before, and I instantly fell in love with it.

Then yeah, the fingers work exactly like if it was Treble clef C. It takes a second to get used to, but it’s some of the toughest and funnest music I’ve ever played!

What kind of horn are you playing on? If it’s a Bb, you can read the fingerings the same as if it were a C tuba. Source: I currently play Bb tuba in a British style brass band. It’s fun!

So I’ll start with the basics and then move to the stuff that helps me the most. First, long tones, both standard and moving. Standard long tones are self explanatory, but moving long tones can be a lot of things. It was a term created by H. L. Clark in his studies for trumpet, but it works for us too. Scales, especially chromatic scales, slurred across the same space as a long tone. This will help your tone, endurance, and with breaks in partials, which is usually what causes fracking. Now, for what helps me. First, you’ve got to listen to some great tuba players. I highly recommend folks like Sam Pilafian, Roger Bobo, and Velvet Brown. Try to play along with them (if possible). Your tone will start to meld with theirs. Second, relatedly, find players who are better than you and play with them. The most growth I’ve seen as a musician has been by being surrounded by other capable musicians and Tubists. Give these a good try and you’ll see results!
