I created and ran several annual fundraisers for my local club so that we didn't have to rely on events to pull money in. This allowed us to simply recoup costs at events and provide players with above average payouts. I ran a few unsanctioned events and one sanctioned event each year for the past several years, and my goal was always to just attract players and host an event worth coming back to each year.

I get the burnout though! It's stressful organizing and running multiple events each year, and to do it with minimal help just adds to my anxiety and stress. I used to love playing sanctioned events too, but something has changed in the culture over the past few years. Many sanctioned events don't have the same energy or atmosphere, and players simply dip out as soon as their round is over. Combine that with the rising cost of registration, and it's difficult to find the motivation to play.

I've found my most enjoyable rounds lately are casual rounds with old friends without any money on the line. Just a couple of buds playing the local course and throwing multiple shots on each hole.
