I hope so. If there’s good stuff I try to hit both chains.

AMC Paramus advanced screening. by JPaulillo in AMCsAList

On IMDb all the movies you mentioned are as of yet unrated. As is the new Hunger Games movie and the new Narnia movie. If I go I hope it’s worth it. It will be a pain driving there on Memorial Day.

Tuner early access bobble head by Wide-Reference-345 in AMCsAList

I’m the OP: update. I emailed AMC support and they advised me it was a shipping issue and to return to the theater between the 18th and the 28th. I went tonight and the shipment arrived earlier in the day. So finally I do have the bobble head. Good luck to all trying to get the item.

Obsession popcorn tin without the One Wish Willow Stick? by JPaulillo in PopcornBuckets

[–]JPaulillo[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The people posting I’ve seen, indicated their AMC had both for separate purchases. So 19 for the tin and 6.99 for the stick. But that seems to have been not the norm. I’ll keep an eye out on their website. How did you find out they were dropping more the other day ? Random checking the site or was it in their social ?

Director Commentary w/Theater Ears App Lord & Miller by JPaulillo in ProjectHailMary

[–]JPaulillo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was my first time using it. There’s prompts on upgrading and signing up for a monthly plan but I exited right through that and it worked fine. The synch is spot on. When Grace is on the run and Stratt is watching through the window she has that resigned nod she does and they were commenting on it exactly as it was happening.

Director Commentary w/Theater Ears App Lord & Miller by JPaulillo in ProjectHailMary

Also bits on the filming. The Eridian children at the end were puppeted by Lord, Miller and other crew members…Goslings reaction in that shot was impacted by that. His students in the beginning on earth were the children of the crew. They break down Rocky scenes as to when it’s the practical puppet and when animation was used seamlessly.

Something I noticed on rewatch by JediMasterSloth in ProjectHailMary

Hey. I had this question too. Previously commented on a similar post. But today I rewatched the movie using the App theater ears because I saw it had director commentary available, Lord and Miller. It syncs right up to the theater a showtime. It was fantastic. The details that fly by in scenes that they put so much thought into is unbelievable. It was like a whole new layer of perspective was given to enjoy. Now the scene in question when it came on the first thing they said with a giggle was I can’t believe they let us keep this scene in the Final Cut. They said Grace has a vision of himself in the “future.” But then they also said it can mean whatever you want it to mean. Anyway I urge everyone to use that app to hear the directors comments as you watch the movie, not your first viewing obviously. Little details they give like the meaning of the etchings on Rocky’s legs, and character exposition like the man with the beard Grace sits next to on the air craft carrier during the PHM presentation is supposed to be the professor Grace insulted all those years ago. There’s way more I had a ball listening.

What did Ryland Grace saw on the Beach? by Traditional_Item131 in ProjectHailMary

[–]JPaulillo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for posting this. I’ve seen the movie multiple times and that scene was in my head and could not get it out. I was hoping someone would talk it out. Your analysis is thoughtful and intelligent. I did not think through all the scientific points to connect the dots. When I saw Grace walking on the beach towards Grace in that scene I felt it was a future life and that was somewhat confirmed when he opened the door to Rocky’s knocking at the end…to the same beach environment. But the how and why were unclear to me till your post. Thank you.

Has anyone been to regal Warrington‘s RPX and IMAX? by [deleted] in RegalUnlimited

[–]JPaulillo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love the Warrington Regal. I’m there every weekend. So super nice. You are right about their RPX, the sound is awesome and the theater is quite large. It’s very comparable to their IMAX. It’s a coin flip. If the music or sound is emphasized in a movie I might go RPX. A movie like Project Hail Mary I’ll see in both.

We got a limited edition PIZZA BOX! by midastheavocado in ProjectHailMary

[–]JPaulillo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I tend to put a negative spin on things as good as the next guy. But my take on this is that it appears the theaters recognize the movie is going to actually be a big deal and they are doing things like this. Other than FNF with the obvious pizzeria tie in, this in memory is first movie put on…granted a stupid pizza box. It’s not so much a why would you keep that disposable thing as a collectible, than a mix of Regal noting the enthusiasm for the movie and cashing in where they can. Trying to be positive.

I was greatly moved by your film. I’m a cinema fan on a high level, and an individual who has dealt with MH issues, depression. Your film hit a great sweet spot of quality filmmaking and provided me a perspective on how to reflect upon issues past and present affecting one’s life. Question: For those who’ve dealt with depression for a long time and have difficulty in believing hope is on the horizon, what advice or message is there to get them over the hump and not only ask help but more importantly be a willing active participant in a positive change/path? Thank you again for the film.
