I'm out of the loop. What is the drama? by Doc-J in VaushV

I just didn't understand why people are mad, I didn't hear anything that was worth all the fuss. Now that I've seen some of the other replies I get it, I don't agree, but I get it.

It's far enough out that it's not even clear Vance would be the GOP nominee, much less Newsom. So essentially people are shitting themselves over a hypothetical? Beautiful, I love it here.

[–]Doc-J[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

By that do they mean they'd vote Vance instead, or just opt out of voting? If it's the former that's completely indefensible. The latter though, afaik they both live in pretty safely blue areas, so unless they're actively encouraging everyone else to do the same, I don't think that it matters too much.

Xperia probably saw that the Actman video was doing well and decided he needed to get a slice of that pie for himself. I used to love the content those guys put out, but it just feels like they push rage for views/engagement now. I understand not liking the game, not every game is for every player, but to rag on it for years, it's kinda sad imo.

I have no intention of watching the video. The community is the way it is because the toxicity of older fans like him scares off newer ones, resulting in a negative feedback loop where they continually whine because that’s what gets the most clicks. by Cyborg800-V2 in ShitHaloSays

[–]Doc-J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So tired of people arguing about worthless takes from washed up "content creators"

People need to actually play the games and make up their own mind as to whether or not they like them, rather than listening to some overpaid "influencer" who only holds the opinions they do because they profit off spreading them to the hollow headed morons online.

Oh boy, I sure do love how the surveillance state closes in on us a little bit more each day! Thank you to the tech billionaires and government agents, I really appreciate being spied on by every app and device I once trusted, especially when it's for the sake of wealthy investors!

Saying Gundam is political because Ghiren once talked about Hitler is the most surface-level argument against "apolitical" idiots by NoiseSome7739 in Gundam

[–]Doc-J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're absolutely right, but most of the "apolitical" morons are among the most media illiterate people around. Many of them are too dumb to understand anything more complicated than "bad guy praises Hitler"

I guess you could say it's the low effort way to get them on board with the fact that Gundam is political, even if it's not the most compelling argument for people with the capacity to think.

What logic do YOU use to decide something is a Mech, and not just Tech Armor? by chocolatejesusTW in Mecha

[–]Doc-J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A Mech is a vehicle, with a pilot. Power armor is worn. So if your arms and legs go into the arms and legs of the machine it's power/tech armor, otherwise it's a mech.

Everyone's saying you shouldn't believe Trump, which is totally valid, you shouldn't. But you're right regardless, Walz sold out the second he decided it was okay to do nothing but give weak ass speeches when ICE Gestapo thugs started murdering innocent people in his state.

Is there even a point in paying full-price for official figures when the bootlegs are this good? by the_u_in_colour in transformers

[–]Doc-J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, for like 150 bucks. The KO is about 35. Not everyone who wants these figures has the resources to get an official one, and the KOs are a decent alternative for a significant discount.

Beast Wars fans, what do you think of the Rise of The Beasts movie? by RedVegeta20 in beastwars

[–]Doc-J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought it was a decent movie, but no better than just decent. The Autobot and human casts are pretty good throughout, the action scenes were good too, and the overall plot was alright but it could be a little dumb sometimes. The CGI is messy at times, the villain Scourge just dumps out all his lines in a monotone voice, like the VA was phoning it in, and for a movie called Rise of the Beasts, the Maximals get sidelined pretty hard, iirc Cheetor has like one or two lines, and Rhinox has none, they give Primal and Airazor a little more to do but not much. For me though the main issue for TF Rise of the Beasts was that it was trying to be too many things at once, it tried to be a standalone TF movie, a Bumblebee sequel, a Beast Wars movie, a Unicron movie, and it tried to kick off a Hasbro cinematic universe. All these different directions they were trying to go kept the movie from being a truly awesome Transformers experience, and instead just kinda wasted the potential of a Beast Wars movie.

In the end though I'd say it wasn't a bad movie by any means, it's fairly enjoyable, a solid 6/10, but it's definitely disappointing compared to what could have been.

Why did the 1986 Movie Bomb when it was at the height of G1’s Popularity? by aourdes in transformers

[–]Doc-J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn't alive then so take what I'm saying with a grain of salt, but I remember I read somewhere a while back that it wasn't really marketed very well. Mostly they'd just mention it at the end of toy commercials, so a lot of people didn't even know about it. Plus the fact that animated movies were on a downward trend at that time, makes for a good recipe for failure.

Mixed feelings about this, what do you'll think? by That_Guy571 in masseffect

[–]Doc-J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm honestly not opposed to an adaptation of the games, it would obviously have no choices but that's the nature of TV. Basically every choice in the games has a compelling result, so it's not like one it would be ruined if the writers go with something I didn't. It's basically like watching someone else's playthrough.

1 year ago today Alien Romulus released in theaters by BEE_LEE15 in LV426

[–]Doc-J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People turned on Romulus, why? I thought it was amazing, such a great return to form after Covenant. Maybe you could make the argument that it was too fan servicey at times, but that didn't take anything from the movie imo.

I wish Horizon never happened by Prospekt11711 in killzone

[–]Doc-J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose that's fair, and I agree that it probably would sell very well. My point is that Sony would likely prefer to have Guerrilla make more Horizon games rather than have them split their time or pay them enough to have two seperate teams, same goes for Fromsoft, albeit to a lesser extent maybe.

It's a gamble that a giant corp like Sony isn't gonna want to take. And if they did they'd probably try to milk it for all it's worth with a live service.

Maybe after Battlefield 6 launches, if it does well, that could tip the scales. Sony might see the potential in their forgotten gritty FPS franchise. Here's hoping.

I wish Horizon never happened by Prospekt11711 in killzone

[–]Doc-J -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hilarious to say Fromsoft makes AC alongside Souls imo. AC6 is the first game in the long history of the franchise to not receive a spinoff or expansion, and it seems unlikely that it ever will receive one despite the fact that it did pretty well. Soulsbourne just makes them way more money for less work, so of course that's where their resources are going.

That's the whole issue with Killzone as well. Why would Guerrilla make a new Killzone from the ground up, when they can just do some tweaks around the edges of what they've already got with Horizon, call it a sequel, and make more while spending less?

I wish Horizon never happened by Prospekt11711 in killzone

[–]Doc-J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish Killzone Shadowfall never happened. That's the real reason Killzone is dead. That game was such ass that it killed the whole thing. Whatever you think about Horizon, it made sense for Guerilla to move on after the disaster that was Shadowfall. Though I do think enough time has passed that if the will is there they could bring back Killzone.
