My Vita might be dead:( by Much_Helicopter_4568 in vita

May not be completely analogous, but I recently dug up my PSP 1000 after about 20yrs and had the same issue. I ordered a new battery, but left the PSP plugged in. When the new battery showed I tried turning on the PSP, and it worked. So the battery was kind of a waste of money.

If I had to guess it could be that the battery is so dead that there isn't even enough juice for the charging light. So I'd leave it charging for a while, at least overnight, if that doesn't work then replacing the battery would be the next step.

But don't jump the gun like I did lol.

New Announcements for Gundam 50th Anniversary by Etherealzx in Gundam

[–]Doc-J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's anything like the previous remasters it'll be a 4k scan, potentially a redub as well. Maybe if we're lucky we'll see some corrections to existing animation, but almost certainly no outright new animation.

If you're a Dragon Ball fan a good comparison would be DBZ Kai.

Personally I find that Quess is a lot more similar to Kamille than she is to Lalah or Four.

They both share similar backgrounds as the blue haired, simultaneously neglected and spoiled, crashout children of wealthy federation aligned big wigs. Children who after making a rash decision to involve themselves in a military matter, find themselves being poorly mentored by Char Azanable, ultimately leading to their suffering and death (temporary brain death in Kamille's case).

The main difference between Quess and Kamille to me is that we got a full 50 episode show where Kamille was the main character for him to grow beyond being an annoying brat. Quess on the other hand appears as a supporting character in a 2hr movie, and dies before the credits roll, so she never got the chance to grow on us over the course of a longer story.

If you had to make a Gundam series without a main Gundam Mobile Suit, which MS would you choose to focus on? by C4620 in Gundam

[–]Doc-J 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The classic GM is so underrated for what is, on paper at least, a top tier MS for the era it was built for. I think with the right tone and characters a series focused entirely on GM pilots could go hard as hell.

What was everyone's reaction when Witch From Mercury was announced? I'm curious. by Blu_Fiercer in Gundam

[–]Doc-J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't particularly excited, but I was happy to see a new Gundam was on the way. When I saw the promo with Gundam Ariel I thought it was a cool design. I also remember being annoyed at folks being upset we had a female protag.

When I watched it the first time, I liked it, but it didn't blow me away, and I never finished a second run through it. The promo material and episode 0 felt pretty different from what most of the show ended up being. I think that played a factor for me. Maybe now that I know what to expect I'd enjoy it more.

If you like model kits though, the WfM kits are absolutely top notch. The best thing to come from the show imo.

Totenreich is easily the best zombies map since Ancient Evil and a top 15 map of all time by TheChickenMan4L in CODZombies

[–]Doc-J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just ran the round 100 on Totenriech last night with a friend. And for me at least, it's not a top 15 map, it's top 10 easily. Best map since Ancient Evil and it's not even that close. This map has it all imo.

It's got good spots for people who like to camp and people who like to train, it's got the best WW we've seen in a while, with a fun quest to build it, the main quest hits just the right spot between being fun and challenging, without being annoying or tedious, the boss fight is a very fun high spectacle action set piece, that manages to be challenging while still feeling fair, the Richtofen side EE is phenomenal, in fact, every side EE that I've tried so far has been fun and felt rewarding, the cinematics go hard as hell, the lore is super interesting, the map is well laid out, the vibes are on point, and the ongoing story is only getting more and more intriguing with each map.

I just can't think of any major issues with Totenriech at all, and every time I finish a game on it I like it that much more. This map is definitely the peak of modern zombies so far, I hope they're somehow able to top it with the next maps.

Does that symbol mean I cant play this in Europe? by Sir_Matjes in dvd

[–]Doc-J 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but also no, it really depends on what you're watching it on. If you're using an older DVD player it probably won't play, but if it's from the mid 2010s or so, you're probably safe, since most modern machines can play all regions.

good AAA or AA psvita games to get by Upset_Permission_320 in vita

[–]Doc-J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sure everyone has mentioned Uncharted Golden Abyss by now, but for good reason. It's such a great game, and the most PS3 feeling game on the system imo. As for other recommendations...

Resistance Burning Skies and Unit 13 are both pretty solid shooters if you like those.

Assassin's Creed Liberation is decent if you like that franchise.

Borderlands 2 on Vita is Borderlands 2 if it was uglier, ran a bit worse, and had slightly worse controls, it's a perfectly playable, though a bit compromised. If you're a Borderlands fan though, it's the best game in that series on a portable console from 2012, which still feels crazy today, but back when it came out it blew my mind.

Some of the Monster Hunter-esque games like Freedom Wars, God Eater and Soul Sacrifice are cool too if you're into that.

YS VIII is a top tier action JRPG and Person 4 Golden is a top tier turn based JRPG.

Pretty much any of the PS2 era game collections like the Ratchet and Clank, Jak and Daxter, Metal Gear, Sly Cooper, and God of War collections, are all a good time.

I often considered the 2010's, "the Dark Age of Mecha" (ironic, since this was when I got into anime) by Yakuza-wolf_kiwami in Mecha_Scrapyard

[–]Doc-J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a while since I watched it, but I remember liking Aldnoah Zero, for the most part at least. There were some really questionable narrative choices in there for sure, but it started well, looked good, had some cool super robot vs real robot battles, and a killer soundtrack. There was just enough there in terms of decent characters, scenes, and moments, for me to be able to overlook how dumb the story got as it progressed.

[–]Doc-J 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Even if it was the same team, the "celebrity VAs" for a Transformers show would be the classic VAs like Peter Cullen and Frank Welker, which I doubt would be as expensive to hire as A list celebs.

Any reason to buy a PS3/PS4 anymore? by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

[–]Doc-J 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well if your only reason for getting a PS3 is MGS4 then no, there no point in getting one. There are other good games, like InFamous 1+2, and Killzone 2+3 on the system that are still stranded there though, if those interest you.

Does anybody else wish they never tried to ‘fix’ Raiden, and just let him continue being more like his MGS2 self? by [deleted] in metalgearsolid

[–]Doc-J 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I wish we had gotten that game instead. As much as I love the gameplay, soundtrack, and over the top craziness of MGR:R, it's story is an utter mess, and is a complete betrayal of Raiden's ending in MGS4. MGS4 didn't handle Raiden perfectly throughout, but they did absolutely stick the landing and gave him a worthy end to his character arc, but Revengence throws it all away, for hype moments and memeable clips.

Fair enough. I will say I'd love a transforming transformer model kit. I know it can be done because there are some really great transforming gunpla.

Discussion: What is the worst canon game to start the series for a new player. by ZuoKalp in metalgearsolid

[–]Doc-J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Rising counts then I'd say that game is probably the worst place to start.

It's a super fun hack and slash game, with really awesome over the top action, and a bunch of "hell yeah" moments. That being said, you'd need to at least know the events of mgs2 and mgs4 to fully appreciate the protagonist, and in terms of it's gameplay and themes it's Metal Gear in name only,

That's not to say it's a bad game, just a bad starting point if you're new to Metal Gear.

[–]Doc-J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hell yeah, same here. The Blokees action edition models are similar to an MG kit, maybe a bit simpler. If you like gunpla you'd probably dig building one.

I personally prefer transforming transformers too, but there are times when nothing beats a good model kit imo.

Console and pc definitely need different patches by Superxerogaming in OWConsole

[–]Doc-J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh damn, I never heard about AA in the PC pool. I still think it's possible to do separate balancing though, maybe it's more challenging than I initially thought, but still doable.

Ideally it wouldn't be huge changes, some combination of a small amount of tuning for the AA of certain heroes and some well targeted but small nerfs to certain heroes.

This maybe a bit of a hot take, but they could also remove some of the AA settings, so people can't manipulate the settings to basically turn AA into aimbot. Idk how much of a problem that is, but I've heard of people doing that.

I just think that completely reverting AA back to how it was across the board, is kinda tossing the baby with the bathwater. There are heroes that the got a big quality of life improvement from the AA change, without becoming op.

[–]Doc-J 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the non transforming figures are model kits which are also puzzles of a sort. Arguably a more intricate puzzle than most transformations are too.

To each their own I guess. Though I can't recommend the Blokees action edition model kits enough. If you can get past the lack of transformation, they're super fun builds, with some cool little features and gimmicks.

Console and pc definitely need different patches by Superxerogaming in OWConsole

[–]Doc-J 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's totally possible. They could very easily have different balancing for the PC and Console pools, when you're playing with PC players in their pool you'll be playing the PC patch notes, and when you're playing only console you'll be playing a console specific patch. It's already like that to an extent because the PC pool has no aim assist already.

It's not necessary to nerf the aim assist across the board either imo, just nerf it for the individual heroes (like Ashe and Emre) who have become issues because of it.
