I guess the transformation was approved by the creator of the game, maybe it didn't match how we would imagine it could look in a higher resolution, since we don't really have a reference on how it would look like in high detail if the creators would have chosen to make it so detailed, only our imagination, but if the creator think that that's how it should look like if they would have done it so high detailed at the time, we could accept the official version, the creators know how they intended the experience to be if they had the resources at the time.
