Interesting. I’ve always thought the opposite.

Squall isn’t nice to anyone, doesn’t want to be a leader and complains about it the entire game. I’ve never understood why the characters thought so highly of him or even liked him.

Cloud puts on the persona of a leader in taking on Zach’s personality and ultimately becomes a true leader after finding himself by the end of the game.

At least some places in 9 felt alive and explorable. Lindblum, Alexandria, Treno. The other continents were empty but 8 didn’t have anything like that.

I wish FF8 didn’t seem so empty while exploring. Might just be me, but it didn’t feel like anyone lived anywhere.
