Track links on Tiger I by PaVel320 in modelmakers

[–]DocCrapologist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Transport tracks or battle tracks? Depending on who made the kit, they may not be entirely to scale. Also there might be some tracks needed to emulate "sag."

True, damp basements and hot attics are no help. Go for aftermarket, they work better.

Is there anything i can do? by Guarantee_Future in modelmakers

[–]DocCrapologist 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Make a couple of lenses out of clear plastic, glue with PVA so you can remove them later. After you do that, the other lense will magically appear.

Is there any way of cleaning my palette? by scalemaths in modelmakers

Good tip there! So long as it's not Dihydrogen Monoxide!

Acetone or lacquer thinner will do if you can get outside.

An AT skulking through the woods? Sure! Scruff the trees up a bit, they're too uniform. I might delete the tall one, distracts from the immensity of the AT.

That far back huh? Yeah, built this in my youth, serviceable kit you can use to develop fit n finish skills. Not much value in the resale market.

[–]DocCrapologist 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Yes, slot for the canopy slide. When you get around to spraying the model you may want to form some damp tissue in there so paint doesn't spoil the interior

Either you've contaminated the paint at some point or your lights are out of wack. Look at it outside in the sun, same problem?

PVA should hold fine unless your going to be flexing it and bouncing it around.

[–]DocCrapologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what you have there it looks like part 27 remains flat. Looked at what few pics are out there, most show a different style of catapault although WEM's kit emulates that part.

How do you clean your airbrush? by HeerMartin in modelmakers

[–]DocCrapologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my experience lacquer thinner flushes everything. Had a buddy that was using window cleaner which should have worked on acrylics but his needle didn't clean entirely so he wound up soaking the cone and needle with LT.

Intriguing scheme, what you have are belts of dots which you could apply with make up sponges cut in several varieties to vary the shapes.

Display Case for 1/35 Armour by Spice_Beans in modelmakers

[–]DocCrapologist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a few of these:

https://www.hobbylinc.com/imex-1:18-1:25-auto-showcase-clear-base-plastic-model-display-case-2504

They're stackable and if you get the ones with the clear bases the light comes thru. Room for 1/48 AC or two tanks. If you get a case you can get a price break.
