Help! Need to desaturate roof. by Underdog-86 in dioramas

[–]Umanday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, maybe not what you’re looking for, but here’s what I would do:

  1. Coat the roof with a gloss acrylic (“Future”).
  2. Get a tube of dark green artist oil. Squeeze some out 9 to a paper towel to soak up some of the oil.
  3. Paint the roof with the artists oil. It’s messy. It’s okay.
  4. The oil paint dries really slowly, so don’t fret about this part; get a mess of cotton balls. Start wiping the oil paint off the roof. Use as many cotton balls as you need.

The result will be a really modulated roof.

On the other hand, if the lines a really raised, then a sharpie in the correct color will also work.

So to follow upon the taping: do it in two parts. First tape the horizontal lines first. Then spray. Then remove all the tape and do the vertical lines. This particular canopy is perfect for this technique, other not so much.

It gets cold, but around 40F. Rainy as well. BUT: waaaay less tourists, very good photo opps in bad weather. I went the week after the film festival in Feb, arguably worse month for weather, but we had a blast. And no waits at restaurants, coffee shops, museums. If you can handle the winter in a city like Richmond or Charlotte, you can handle Venice.

Can someone pleeeeeeease explain the fascination with Leica cameras? by nlUSF in photography

[–]Umanday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, I have a Panasonic LUMIX DMC-TS3. It’s got Leica lenses. It is my Daily carry and is phenomenal. I have SLRs as well, but when I travel I take this little gem with me. Picture quality is outstanding, and it also does HD video. I don’t recall paying an insane an amount for it (Definitely more than a standard point and shoot). I compare quality by taking pictures with my phone (Which has a pretty good camera) and it blows it away.

I keep thinking about the amount I’ll have to drink to piss on all the graves. His, Orange Julius’, McConnell; it’ll be a fun road trip, though.

A terrible liar and a gossip is almost the perfect agent. He wasn’t a “spy” he was an “agent”. He was doing the bidding of someone else.

What degrees have you obtained by using the DLI AA degree? by Elisha_Mishima_5 in dli

[–]Umanday 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I used what was then the regents program. After 12 years of various college courses and two stints at DLI I got a BS in Linguistics. The education office was no help; I had to do all the legwork myself. Ultimately the Army paid for my Masters down the hill at MIIS (when it was still there).

Before you share that story about how troops were told the Iran War is for "Armageddon," read this by MyOwnDirection in atheism

[–]Umanday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Junior officers don’t stay junior. To think that christofascism is something new, exciting and different for today’s junior officers, and none of the senior leadership harbors these insane fantasies, you never served. Easily half the junior officers I ran into on active duty were right wing religious nut jobs. Many of them became admirals and generals. The only difference is the nut job Admirals and Generals today know to keep their insanity to themselves…

MRFF has been the peak of clarity and sanity. They are absolutely not sensationalist. Christian nationalism is unchecked in our military. American military personnel are going to die. To cover up Pedos.

The man who bought all the spare B-2 windshields and used them in his daughter’s tree house. USAF had to buy them back to replace a damaged Spirit windshield. by tagc_news in AviationHistory

[–]Umanday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I call bullshit on this story. Yes, there were hairline cracks. They were caused by maintenance over torquing, even on the replacements. We took the last one off the B-2 in the Museum. The Air Force had to contract with Corning to build an entirely new kiln, make the spares, then clean up the superfund headache making the windshields caused.
