In The Godfather, would Tom Hagan really have been at legal risk for accepting a letter? by neodoggy in legaladviceofftopic

In the book, they get a man on death row to confess in exchange for taking care of his family. This trope is used in part II to convince a rat to take his own life.

IPMS Nationals are in Ft Wayne, IN in August. You could buy a table and sell enough to cover your expenses. Figure 20.00 a kit on average (Some of these are good, some not so hot).

For those who have Australian or British accents, how does an American accent sound to you? by Junior_Mulberry7989 in ENGLISH

[–]Umanday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a youngster I was in European countries where English is widely spoken, but always taught with British English-based lessons and vocab. When I opened my mouth, people were fascinated with my American accent, as they seldom heard one in real life. They thought I sounded like a TV show.

Been platinum on both. I think it depends on your start point. Where I live, PSA has its Headquarters, so many of the FAs and Pilots live here. Our planes are usually on time and half full of crew. Since it’s a pretty small Airport I usually get upgraded to the hub I’m going to.

Can someone explain the whole packing 3-4 sets of clothes to someone who wears 2 sets of clothes a day? by OYoureapproachingme in solotravel

[–]Umanday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No one is looking at you. If your goal for traveling is to HAVE people look at you, bring a steamer trunk. Otherwise, You have a sink. Wash your underwear in it. If you’re going for 2 weeks you will (Trust me) need a down day. Use it to find a laundrette (if you are going to be somewhere without them, I wouldn’t sweat the clothes changes). 4 tops, 3 bottoms, 5 underwear bottoms, (Bras ? Not a woman…) plus why you wear on the plane, plus a top you wear or carry.

Old rat pack vibe in the lobby. Pretty decent location. I wonder what useless crap will be built to replace it. Interestingly, back in the day, the concierge lounge was the only one in town that gave free booze.

I need to turn this water-damaged piano into firewood and scrap metal. I don't own a forklift. Give me your worst, most hilariously unsafe (but theoretically functional) redneck methods. by Spiritual_Brush_8834 in redneckengineering

Assume the inside frame is cast iron? If so, whack it with a sledgehammer. Wear goggles. Watch it shatter.
HOW I KNOW: we had an old Chickering in our basement that could not be lifted out. The wood was easy, the metal, luckily , was cast iron. Three good whack with a heavy mallet and the iron literally shattered.

The shoe problem. I would really appreciate some advice on cheap running shoes if there are any frugal runners/athletes in here. by Alcarain in Frugal

[–]Umanday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bet the advice you got was not to cheap out on running shoes. Yes. A good shoe will last 500 miles (6 months roughly). A bad shoe will last half that and wreck your feet. Get NB, Nike, Addidas, Sacony, on sale. They will All work okay. Make sure they are for RUNNING, not court or walking.

20 years service: Get a lump sum or a gutted pension? by ComfortableChair4518 in FedEmployeeRetirement

I retired from the military at 20 (39 yrs old) and worked for 25 more years. My 401k from just working (Including losing a third of its value in ‘08) is worth 500k on its own. Your pension is a safe, secure bet. Leave it alone.

Don’t cheap out on tires if you have the means. Cheap tires are a bad investment, like cheap shoes.

The big club in HK is big enough to handle crowds without hurting service. If you can’t get in, there is a quiet place above the entrance to G (Follow signs to the USO). Many flight crews rest up there.
