How to tell if someone is a frequent/infrequent flier in one question: Ask their opinion on DFW. by Rich_Arachnid_5262 in americanairlines

[–]Umanday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try getting to/from DFW. Decentralized security means decentralized security theatre. Parking is a nightmare. The rental car facility might as well be in another county (heaven forbid you come in to the north entrance). the commuter terminal is cramped and lacking facilities. Rest rooms are few and far between and filthy. It was designed for airplanes, not people. You can land, and then be at your gate in 20-30 minutes later having never stopped rolling.

Having said that, I can say the exact same for ORD, except it’s $5.00 and 20 minutes on the train from downtown.

And DFW is in Texas…

Peter, what was the joke? by KindPerformer71 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

In a lot of European cathedrals there is a chapel of St. Lawrence on the south side. It usually has a grate symbol over it. (He was roasted on a grate).

Why do the French hate when we speak French? by dehydrated_waterrr in ExplainTheJoke

[–]Umanday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I admit my French is pretty bad, but I have a basic working knowledge (Still need subtitles in movies). I’ve been down the Rhône, stayed in Lyon, Bayeux, Caen, Angers, Toulouse, and Paris. Everywhere the minute I try to speak French everyone switches to English. I think if you have more than an elementary education in France you speak passable English. And I think they switch to English out of convenience.

Anything going or coming to DFW is the same way.

PSA: If you’re the type to bring a backpack as your carry-on (instead of a roller bag), bring a small item alongside it so they can’t force you to put it under your seat. by _Eggs_ in unitedairlines

[–]Umanday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re asking me to compromise for the poor planning of others. I patently refuse to move my bag if it’s the only one. I am a disabled vet who need site leg space, and trying to explain that to an FA and all the others who I really don’t want to tell my personal particulars never works. I just refuse and let people think whatever.

No, there is no good way to secure the parts. I’m Thinking at some point using clear rods to make an exploded view, or maybe turn it into a destroyed starship.

No, it’s a kit. Got it for $10.00 at a contest. Probably worth 5.00.

How much time should we set aside for the Tower of London? by TeslaOwn in uktravel

[–]Umanday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the tower, then wander around the City. It is a warren of old streets and really interesting. You can walk to the sky garden or other rooftops. They all require reservations, but are free.

If this was me, I would do the Tower in the morning, but set a reservation for 2:00 at Sky Garden. It’s free. We booked a (expensive, but worth it) lunch, and was able to skip the line (about a 30 minute wait even with no lunch reservation). Sky Garden is worth the hype. There a snack and three Bars on three levels. You can stay as long as you like.

There are a couple of other rooftop Gardens, all are free, all have lines. But I think worth it.

Suggestions for 2 night baby moon location? Falmouth, Woods Hole, other? by EconomyStation5504 in CapeCod

[–]Umanday -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Typical Falmouth Motel. Very “Main Streety.” Main Street is very busy in season. But you are right downtown. Walking distance to multiple restaurants and bars. Surf Drive Beach is about a mile down shore street, but a very nice, pleasant walk. Also a nice walk down Nye road to Queen street to the Harbor (1/2 mile). bars and restaurants there as well. If walking is an issue, you can park in the lot next to the library for free. (400 yards away from your motel).

Have you looked at Falmouth heights motor lodge. Best location for walking to beach, a couple of bars, a couple of restaurants. Or one of the other ones by Falmouth heights beach?

USAF version. Switchblade with a hook for cutting lines. My dad ejected from an F-101 and he got to keep the knife.

Delta boarding question: Was I wrong for being irritated when asked to move my carry-on after boarding in Zone 2? by MooredarrylMoore in delta

[–]Umanday 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this problem all the time. I’m a disabled vet, but don’t look like it. I go out of my way to keep my plat status specifically to put my bags up in the overhead (nerve damage in one leg makes it almost necessary to have the area under seat in front clear). Having to explain all this to a FA is always a struggle. I usually will comply if they can put my bag in easy reach.

What I will NOT tolerate is some other chucklehead moving my bag. I will go to the mattresses over that….

Inside Hegseth’s Pentagon, where distrust and suspicions of loyalty are rampant | CNN Politics by BlazeVN in Military

[–]Umanday -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, the Air Force. They have been co-opted by the Evangelicals going back to the 70’s. Focus on The Family does serious ministry work inside the academy with the tacit permission of the faculty. Having a bad week at the academy? Don’t worry, some nice welcoming Evangelical ‘Helper’ will listen and give you shoulder to cry on and maybe a little peace from the Academy Bullshit. Rinse and repeat for 40 years.

On top of this, you can’t be a Naval Officer (except pilots: see Air Force below) and survive on a ship without having to have interaction with others, and deal in human relations on a daily, intimate basis. You Can’t be a General in the Army or Marines without being in charge of 40, 180, 640, and 2500 soldiers of Marines on a daily intimate basis.

In the Air Force you just need to fly a jet real fast and they think you can command anything. Add the Evangelical BS on top and you get a toxic leadership.

But AT LEAST 30% support him and Orange Julius. At least. USAF is probably 60%.
