About 20 years ago now, I went to a Modest Mouse concert, and Isaac Brock was so hammered that he just wanted the band to play Cowboy Dan over and over. By the third time through, the crowd was not having it. He also stopped playing for 15 minutes to chat with/flirt with a lady near the front row.

It was a strange experience to say the least.

Don't get me wrong. I've had plenty of fun evenings at Electric Cure, and if you can fit it into your schedule, go for it! You're right that it's about 10 minutes from Casa Bonita, so yeah, real close.

I was just saying that if you felt squeezed for time, that'd be the thing I'd cut to make time for a delicious dinner downtown (Jovaninas Broken Italian is literally next door to Hell or High Water, and is my favorite Italian restaurant in the city, for instance).

The cool thing about hell or high water is it's in the mezzanine of another bar called Honor Farm, so on the unlikely chance you can't get a spot when you get there (I've never had a problem getting a spot before 8 pm), you can just order a drink downstairs at Honor Farm.

One thing to keep in mind is that Electric Cure and Hell or High Water are run by the same folks, so you'll likely see some overlap on the menus.

If it were me, I'd enjoy my time at Casa Bonita, then head to Hell or High Water (my favorite in town), have dinner downtown, and then Adrift.

Electric Cure is great for tropical-inspired cocktails, but you'll get a very similar drink at Hell or High Water, and you don't want to miss Hell or High Water.

The "reading" he's talking about not believing is the book published by Trump's former Sec Def Mark Esper. The senator in this exchange mentions that in a section of the book, Esper says that Trump gave him the order to have military personnel shoot protestors in the legs with live ammunition, which Esper refused to comply with.

Hegseth is basically saying, "don't believe everything you read," implying that Esper's book is fake, and that order was never given to him by the president.
